Al Gore’s Current TV confirmed Wednesday evening that it has been sold to Al Jazeera for an estimated $400 to $500 million, with the former vice president set to pocket up to $100 million from the sale.
In an email sent to Current TV’s staff, co-founder and former chief executive officer Joel Hyatt describes the selling process he and co-founder Al Gore went through in considering sale to Al Jazeera, acknowledging Current TV was a failed model.
Hyatt points to the Al Jazeera’s many accomplishments, including its global reach and for being the “only news network” that Obama-supporter Colin Powell watches, as factors in their decision.
The announcement makes clear that Al Jazeera plans to create a new international news network for an American audience called “Al Jazeera America.”

I doubt too many people will watch. As it is, Current has about 5 viewers. Al Jazeera might increase that to 8. :)
Gore reminds me of Herman Goering. A fat blowhard, corrupt, bombastic, contributing nothing, but convinced that everything is about him. Herman made himself a very rich man, too — but it didn’t last.

Gore originally bought NewsWorld International for about $70m, and probably spent another $100m or so on it to turn it into Current TV, along with an “investor group” of his sucker buddies.
So I’m thinking he is taking a big loss on selling what remains of Current TV, because on the real market, its value is maybe in double digits a lot lower than he is getting from al-Jazeera.
On a small scale, he has just sold them a turkey, and it was also just announced that Time-Warner is no longer going to carry Current TV.
So the Arabs are already losing big time on the deal.

Hope you are right,,,but I think that in a short time it will be the default station for most if not all mussies and their sympathisers in America, and possibly link up with MSNBC, and someplace for chrissy to go to
Algore wants it known that his aims are closer to those of Al-Jazeera than to Glenn Beck.
