Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo (D-N.Y.) said Thursday that all options, including confiscation and mandatory sales to the state, would be on the table next month when the New York State Legislature debates new gun control measures. The comments were specifically aimed at what might happen should stricter rules be imposed on assault weapons and high-capacity magazines.
The governor said he plans on proposing a package of gun legislation in his State of the State address on Jan. 9.
Theres a big difference of opinion on these issues, Gov. Cuomo said today during a radio interview with Albanys WGDJ-AM.
Mr. Cuomo explained that because gun control hasnt been a recent topic of discussion in the capital, he has chosen to reach out to lawmakers to see where they stand on the issue before he submits his final proposal.

I’m pretty sure andy is talking out his @ss, SCOTUS has ruled that gun ownership is a right
Exactly how would they go about confiscating guns? Search everyone’s home? Lock people up if they are on record for having purchased a gun but have not turned them in. Seems like an exercise in futility.
[Assault weapons] menacing looks, coupled with the publics confusion over fully-automatic machine guns versus semi- automatic assault weapons anything that looks like a machine gun is assumed to be a machine gun can only increase the chance of public support for restrictions on these weapons. Josh Sugarmann, executive director of New Right Watch, spokesman for the National Coalition to Ban Handguns, Assault Weapons and Accessories in America, policy report of New Right Watch and the Education Fund to End Handgun Violence, September 1988
Our main agenda is to have all guns banned. We must use whatever means possible. It does not matter if you have to distort facts or even lie.
-Sarah Brady, Handgun Control, Inc., The National Educator, January, 1994
If I could have gotten 51 votes in the Senate of the United States for an out right ban, picking up every one of them... Mr. and Mrs. America, turn em all in, I would have done it. I could not do that. The votes werent here.-Dianne Feinstein, Senator, CBS-TVs 60 Minutes, February 5, 1995
Certainly one of the chief guarantees of freedom under any government, no matter how popular and respected, is the right of the citizen to keep and bear arms. This is not to say that firearms should not be very carefully used and that definite rules of precaution should not be taught and enforced. But the right of the citizen to bear arms is just one more safeguard against a tyranny which now appears remote in America, but which historically has proved to be always possible. - Hubert Humphrey(bitter clinger), 1960
Necessity is the plea for every infringement of human freedom. It is the argument of tyrants; it is the creed of slaves.- William Pitt, 1783
Gun bans dont disarm criminals, gun bans attract them.- Walter Mondale, U.S. Ambassador to Japan(bitter clinger), April 20, 1994
Gun prosecutions under Obama down more than 45 percent
Exclude DC,Chicago,LA, Philly, E.St.louis & Baltimore and wed probably have the gun murder rate of Switzerland.
Create the “crisis , then claim you “solved” it.
They mean confiscation from the hands of honest, law-abiding people, not criminals. They have no intention of taking guns from criminals.
Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo (Communist-N.Y.)
Fixed it.
Confiscation = me moving out of state
FYI, Want ad digest just removed all the gun ads from their web site.
They are going to have a lot of guns to grab, looking at gun sales this month.
Good luck with that. As soon as you start to attempt to confiscate, it’s going to be the Civl War II. Why don’t the panty-waste politicians volunteer to be the confiscators?
****”Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo (D-N.Y.) said Thursday that all options, including confiscation...”****
That has been their plan for the last 50 years.

“I’m convinced that we have to have federal legislation to build on. We’re going to have to take one step at a time, and the first step is necessarily given the political realities going to be very modest. Of course, it’s true that politicians will then go home and say, ‘This is a great law. The problem is solved.’ And it’s also true that such statements will tend to defuse the gun-control issue for a time.
So then we’ll have to strengthen that law, and then again to strengthen that law, and maybe again and again. Right now, though, we’d be satisfied not with half a loaf but with a slice. Our ultimate goal total control of handguns in the United States is going to take time.
My estimate is from seven to ten years. The problem is to slow down the increasing number of handguns sold in this country.
The second problem is to get them all registered. And the final problem is to make the possession of all handguns and all handgun ammunition except for the military, policemen, licensed security guards, licensed sporting clubs, and licensed gun collectors totally illegal.”
-Pete Shields, Chairman and founder, Handgun Control Inc., “A Reporter At Large: Handguns,” The New Yorker, July 26, 1976, 57-58
“Yes, I’m for an outright ban [on handguns].”
-Pete Shields, Chairman emeritus, Handgun Control, Inc., 60 Minutes interview
Send your son to get my gun, Andy. :-)
Confiscation attempts will lead to the deaths of a lot of people trying to confiscate guns. Is it worth dying to deny me RKBA? I think it’s worth dying to defend. Think hard about that Cuomo. You’re desire for dictatorship is going to end up getting a lot of people killed on both sides that don’t deserve it.
This is how I think they will do it. They will convince people to turn in their guns voluntarily. The hold outs, and there will be many, will be pressured into doing voluntarily using high taxation, banning ammo, cleaning supplies and other items. They will fill false charges of child endangerment and public nuance. They will use guilt and peer pressure to force “voluntary” compliance. They may jail some with harsh sentences as an example but I believe the real plan is to convince the people to basically cut their own throats for the good of the country.
As long as you understand "all options are on the table" to resist this un-Constitutional, illegal action.
You think the Silica Amish are good at IEDs and insurrection... you ain't seen nothing yet.
These are the same hypocrites that have armed bodyguards and/or have concealed weapons permits.
I think you are correct. The boiling the frog strategy has really worked for the left in so many ways. They would overplay their hand with a sudden, draconian seizure or mandatory turn in. However, Cuomo may be trying to spark violence so he can crush it and justify even more authoritarian actions.
this is just proof that politicians DO NOT know the law or the constution. Politicans, rinos and democrats, rule by fiat and use law to control. For politicians it is them vs serfs.
