Could Next Weeks Election Be Delayed By Sandy?
Posted on October 30, 2012 at 9:58am by Mike Opelka
--- According to FEMAs chief Craig Fugate, the delay in restoring power might play a role in the upcoming election. From his comments to the press last night:
We are anticipating that, based on the storm, there could be impacts that would linger into next week and have impacts on the federal election.
“Obama will win NY and NJ anyway. No need for a delay.”
And what about the Midwest?
Sandy’s reach spreads across Midwest
Sandys pathway is along the East Coast, but the superstorm could make an impact in the Midwest.

Title 3, Chapter 1 doesn’t say anything about delays in elections.
Quick! We have all the inner city voters who were not expected to show up on Tuesday now holed up in shelters around the city. Load up the early voting booths on trucks and get them to the shelters ASAP!!!
That was the 2006 election that gave Missouri Claire McCaskill instead of the rightful winner, Jim Talent. I remember the press conference Kit Bond had, he was absolutely furious, but like every other case of voter fraud, nothing happened and we’ve been stuck with that witch for 6 years.

Democrat Governor Bev Perdue of NC Wasn't Joking: She Wants to Cancel the 2012 Congressional Elections September 28, 2011 Listen to it Button

RUSH: So the governor of North Carolina is just joking about canceling the 2012 congressional elections. She was just joking, she was just having some fun out there. That's the spin of the local media in Raleigh, North Carolina. It's also the spin of the Drive-Bys, State-Controlled Media, but it's not true. We have the audio of Bev Perdue suggesting the elections be canceled and she's not joking, as you will hear, and it's quite interesting.

The hurricane ravaged mostly the liberal northeast states, didn’t it? Too bad about HMS Bounty & her skipper, though.
Bush’s fault!
“A few years back an urban group spontaneously asked a St Louis judge to keep the polls open in da Hood until 10 because it was allegedly very busy. Miraculously that district delivered big for the D candidate.”
And this is what Sandy will do to the elections this year. There will be endless requests to keep the polls open in inner city precincts—especially in PA. The election will take place next Tuesday.
MSNBC Entertains Possibility Of Delaying Elections Due To Hurricane Destruction
ANDREA MITCHELL: We’ve seen in the past situations where power is not restored, in our own region here, for days, for more than a week — for ten days. What happens if we get to election day and they don’t have power? Which you need for many of these election booths, for the voting booths, which you need for people to get to the polls. Is there any precedent for doing something such as postponing a national election?
CHUCK TODD: Well, look, elections are run by state and local officials. The federal government does not run the elections as it is. Look, there is some precedence to this. During 9/11, on 9/11, was the New York City mayoral race and they delayed everything. You know, it would have to be up to a local authority to do that but that local authority — I think, look, you’re going to be getting into provisional ballot issues.
I think — I think that that’s the more likely scenario. You don’t postpone the day itself, but maybe you expand the types of ballots, maybe you’re more lenient on checking people in, but forcing provisional votes so it’s going to take longer to verify the voters and all of those things. I think that that’s the most likely scenario that you would have some localities that would have to move, change positions, maybe even delay, but that would seem the least likely option. But to come up with some way to deal with what you just said now, if you have an election voting machine and no power, do you deal with that?
It looks to me like the worst is over and they have several days to recover. If we allow a storm to change are voting we are not what we used to be.
Thank goodness the clowns at msnbc don’t run anything but their mouths. They know Obama is going down and they want to postpone it.
Obama might try to delay the election because of what you say in your post.
“Thank goodness the clowns at msnbc dont run anything but their mouths. They know Obama is going down and they want to postpone it”
That is the media’s plan. It was all along
They can always use the Franken Method where someone belatedly finds a box full of votes ALL for Obama in the trunk of their car.
I don’t think the NYC subway being closed for a week or more as ‘overhyped.’
The high waters have prevented some democratic voters from getting from the graveyards to the polling stations. An additional week will enable poll workers (aka black panthers) to escort the dead to the appropriate voting location.
this a bad one,
don’t think there was any hype.

Each State shall appoint, in such Manner as the Legislature thereof may direct,
The State Legislature just needs to appoint electors.
“Obama will win NY and NJ anyway.”
I am not convinced that Obama will win NJ.
Clearly there is, because people are biting their nails expecting Obama to postpone the election. It’s not going to happen. It’s just another Eeyore delusion. The election will go ahead a week from now, and no hurricane, tornado, cyclone, or alien invasion is going to save Barry from defeat.
