Sally Ride showed Generation X girls the skys the limit literally.
We could do anything boys could do and sometimes better. If we wanted to go into space, our gender couldnt and wouldnt stop us. If we studied hard enough and trained our brains, the glass ceiling could be shattered.
Amid all the girl power that Ride taught women, one barrier the first American woman in space chose not to break was sexuality. When she died on Monday at age 61 from pancreatic cancer, it emerged that Ride had a partner. As one friend on Facebook wrote, in jest, That lady astronaut was gay.
Yes, Sally Ride, a theoretical astrophysicist, American hero and feminist icon, was a lesbian...

She didn’t want it, but the mainstream media’s trumpeting it a lot after her passing.

And a lot of gays are upset that she didn’t come out when she was alive.

If they'll stand on 12 dead bodies to call for "gun control" what won't they do?

Instead, Ride lived in a world where we should all live, a place where we celebrate someone for her accomplishments and not her sexual orientation. The gleeful hypocrisy of this writer is beyond pathetic.

I have to admit I was very disappointed to find out she was a lesbian.

No one at the Post was smart enough to ask “Ummmm....why are we bashing gay identity politics in a section devoted entirely to female identity politics?”

Doesn’t matter. I’ve always admired her. Got me introduced to “Mustang Sally”

I understand that Buzz Aldrin is a “left dresser” and I find that it empowers me to announce that I too am a left dresser.

“We could do anything boys could do and sometimes better” is about as stupid a statement as it is possible to make yet no one ever corrects them.
The Olympics are coming up. Lets just check the times and distances (for events which are the same) and you will not see girls doing anything as well as boys and most certainly not better.
Oh don’t be fooled by the things they purposely put in to make it seem they are similar. Such as men run 110 meter hurdles over high hurdles. Women run 100 meters over medium high hurdles.
Men throw a 16 pound shot, women throw a much lighter one.
Check the times in the 100 meters. The men’s times will be so superior that an excellent high school boy would beat the women’s world record.
Can women lift the same weight as men? No the can’t and it is not even close.
On the other hand, women can do things men can’t do such as having babies and providing milk for them. Women can usually do very precision work requiring very nimble fingers.
In other words men and women are different, no matter how many lies are told and believed by the stupid among us.

Come on people! Didn’t you all know she was a lesbian. Captain Obvious! Even when I was a little kid - everyone knew - like Jodi Foster, Barry Manilow, or Hillary! Duh.

What exactly did “they” do? Turn her lesbian post mortem?
She made her life choices when she could. I’ll give her credit that she was not a bull, but its still a pity.
Imagine what she could have done if she was normal.

I've reached the point of saying, "ho humm". George Takei is gay and I went, "so?" People should keep their sexuality to themselves. What I think you're reacting to is how the Leftist activist drones turn everything into a sexual or political issue, which is corrupting all of lives.

The left is amoral about using people for their own agenda.
They even use their own. I remember when the FDR memorial
was being planned. There was an endless debate about whether
he should be portrayed as crippled or not, with various advocacy groups weighing in. He worked very hard to give the
impression that he did not have a disability, and I think
that that should have been taken into consideration when
designing the memorial. Of course this never occurred to the
“advocates” and “activists”.

I must say that I wasn’t “disappointed” or “surprised” really; but, I was grateful that she had the class not to shove it in our faces and make her accomplishments be about her being “gay”.
To: ilovesarah2012
Why is that? Sally Ride was a hero to all.
