ORLANDO -- The family of Trayvon Martin asked for an apology from their sons shooter, George Zimmerman, and got one. But their attorney, Benjamin Crump, says it wasnt good enough.
Zimmerman, faces second degree murder charges and apologized during his bond hearing for shooting Trayvon Martin, but the family is unforgiving.
Its real simple. When they called asking for this meeting the day before the bond hearing, we said this is not the appropriate time. And we certainly dont think the bond hearing was the appropriate time because its very self-serving, explained Crump.
Attorney Ben Crump and the Martin family say Zimmermans courtroom apology was half-hearted because if he was truly sorry, it would have been posted on his Web site when it was set up.
They say it never was. Zimmerman has said he made other attempts to apologize, yet the Martin family hasnt budged.
When asked what is would take for the family to forgive, Crump replied, The truth. The truth. I think when you apologize and stuff, youve got to be truthful.
Crump attended the premiere of Beating Justice: The Martin Lee Anderson Story at the Florida Film Feestival Sunday, which he says is a story from six years ago, but very similar to whats happening now.
I mean, very rarely do you get a documentary of a kid actually dying and thats what we had in the bootcamp case. Well, here in the Trayvon Martin case, we have a 911 tape where you hear the last minutes of a kids life again, said Crump.
Zimmerman is awaiting release from jail on $150,000 bond.
Didn’t do link but headline is misleading and should read
Martin Family Attorney : Claimes Zimmerman “Apology” Self Eserving...
While it not clear how much later the family would have been aware of when the missing Trayvon was killed because Trayvon’s father was aware of his death for police notified the family almost immediately from previous police photos .
It took a full day later for the father to formally identify Trayvon’s body,

Correct.... Only for the loss of their punk rug rat.
Exactly right. As is any attempt at compromise or appeasement. In an all out culture war, the nice guy is invariably the victim. You just have to confront and defeat the enemy.
And he didn't apologize, he said he was sorry for their loss.
These parents can’t handle the truth. You think they didn’t know about Tray’s website. Baloney...
If you look at the context of the statement, it’s more an expression of sympathy. The decision to call it an appology, then imply that it was an admission of guilt was Crump’s, and he was shouting that from the rafters 24 hours before Zimmerman said anything. If “the truth” is what’s necessary to resolve the issue, then Crump needs to resign from the case.
I'd have stood up and told him to f+ck himself and "rephrase the question", without the attorney word trickery.
This is one of the very, very few times I'd be leaning towards the defense.
I can see "special" circumstances being made just to railroad the guy.
IMO- it was a good kill- politicians and the legal system are just using it for their own benefit.
“Crump is here in Tallahassee. He can kiss my lilly white ass.”

That Crump was so upset in Court with his stupid questions about the timing of the apology and so upset now he has to talk about it in public suggests it may have been a good strategy.
Well, I tend to agree, although he’s actually zealously pursuing his client’s future civil case, and probably also zealously pursuing the opportunity to spread his firm’s reputation for zealotry, thereby making settlements more likely in future civil actions for other clients. His client isn’t a party at the moment.
The interesting comment in this story was to the effect that he’d actually asked for the “apology”. If true, he prompted the response that he later tried to take advantage of. Another reason for your “don’ say nothing” stance.
On the political front Obama’s minions are trying to make up for what damage he and his pals did to race relation in this country. We actually had white people (men as far as I know) attacked by black racist groups. Obama sacrificed their safety for his stinin’ anti-second amendment and re-election political aims. It’s backfired on the black left.
Anyway, Pelosi’s daughter does short video news reports for Jon Stewart and the bottom line was to show that it is the media’s fault everything was blown up into a race hate power keg. She did this by going to Sanford and looking for the Neo-nazis and NOI. She shows the audience there is one Neo-nazi who lives in the Sanford and then she shows a video clip of around 8 NOI racists standing on the side of the road and proclaimed that was the extent of the race conflict. Then Stewart flashes to carefully edited news media people mentioning key words out of context, like they made it all up. He hit Ted Baxter on Fox with the political repair stunt.
The media did make up a lot of the story in an effort to demonize Zimmerman and self defense, but they did not make up the stuff about the NOI threats to Zimmerman and his family and to all whites. It was a call to the wild and a lot of white men were attacked by black racists because of it. We know one documented case where the racists named Trayvon as the reason for the brutal attack. They hit him in the head with a big chain three times and then beat him with fists and feet. All for Obama’s big fat ego.
Seems that was incited by the NOI racist rally. I remember when the KKK held a rally and inspired an animal to run out and attack a black man. The criminal said the KKK rally had inspired him in his racist attack. Liberals sued the KKK leaders and organization civilly and cleaned them out. I would love to see this white guy sue Jackson, Sharpton and the NOI creeps.
Crump is Al Sharpton with a law degree.

In addition to his linguistic challenges, Crump is completely out of his depth as he attempts to stage a Gloria Allred-type media campaign. But Allred, as odious as she is, usually sticks to shakedowns involving private individuals. Crump is jumping the gun badly and upstaging the very people he is relying on for ‘justice.’
Regardless of the outcome of a criminal trial, it’s obvious that a civil suit will be filed.
Ah - I didn’t know about this provision in the law:
