Time to close ranks behind Romney. He will beat Obama.
Now there's a question!
Yeah.. and it’s one of the cleaner of the Opus’ I’ve seen... but he was very straight forward on his leanings... He has my respect there... :p Too bad his sight was that narrow minded >.<
And yes, I think I mentioned this to DJ or onyx within the last couple of days... they are flying out of the woodwork like rabid bats in the last week or so ;p
DJ and onyx.. sorry for the ping, but I mentioned you, so it’s the polite thing to do to ping those mentioned ;)
Being pinged isn’t a problem. :-)
Sorry Romneyans... I’m voting for Bachmann regardless of where we are when the vote comes to Maryland.
Looks like there's ozone in the forecast for Freeperland.
Did you see this thread? Another one bites the dust. Also an incredible Reading from The Book of Zot! by Chief Druid Normie.
“...its the GOP that does not advance the conservative cause. Romney is just the manifestation of GOP hostility toward conservative principles.”
I have to agree with you there.
What we Conservatives need to do is drag the GOP, kicking and screaming if necessary, back to the right.
A big part of that is to be adamant, to be resolute! They need to know that we WILL NOT vote for Romney, EVEN IF he is the “only way to beat Obama”.
The GOP apparatchik needs to know it NOW. They need to keep seeing it.
And don’t think for a minute that they don’t know what goes on here at FR.
Every time some clown says “I will hold my nose and vote for Romney if he is the candidate, because I am against Obama yadda yadda....” the GOP gets emboldened a little more to continue trying to shove this crap down our throats.
Just read it - nice. I’ve been wondering where the Chief Druid was and even freepmailed him today - I was worried!
You mean “close ranks”, as in he nearly stinks up the joint.
Well, truth be told, Chief Druid Normie took a little sabbatical amongst the high peaks of Asgard to clear his mind, and to meditate upon the eternal question; what causes a troll to be a troll?
Obviously, it's done him much good, and has refreshed him immensely. I don't think I've ever seen a better Reading from The Book of Zot!
You do understand that our Constitutional right to free speech applies to government control of speech, right?
Also, this site is the private property of Jim Robinson (courtesy pinged), and it is his decision what speech he allows and what people he allows to speak on his site. Since there is no government control of speech here, no First Amendment rights are violated.
There is no reason for Mr. Robinson to tolerate different points of view that are antithetical to our Constitution, our culture, and our way of life. This is a Conservative site. Do you not see our country falling down around our ears because of the "different point of view" of the rapacious marxists and communists who are in charge and trying to destroy us?
Our entire country is in deep trouble, but if you want to pick this tiny hill to die on, be my guest.
“....with leftist/RINO/libertarian views.”
I say better to engage in spirited dialog than to zot. Obvious political plants/disrupting notwithstanding.
“Who exactly are you trying to fool?”
If you truly believe that zots are all political operatives sent by the “enemy” then you are only fooling yourself, not advancing conservatism.
“Maybe by “our” side you mean something other than conservative?”
Does the subtlety of the quotation mark elude you?
“What we Conservatives need to do is drag the GOP, kicking and screaming if necessary, back to the right.”
I think conservatives have been sort of successful in having the GOP say the right things on social issues. They just don’t DO anything once elected - or the certainly do not have the fire in the belly over the things the GOP supposedly believes in.
I think conservatives have utterly failed in convincing the GOP that fiscal prudence and limits on government scope/growth/spending should be a priority.
Why?
Conservatives generally are not liars, and expect people to do what they say.
Both are liabilities in the political arena.
What should we do?
I have no idea right now......I wish I knew, but we’ve been unsuccessful for the past 20 years advancing conservative ideals within the GOP.
Actually have read FR for maybe more than 10 years. Not sure what you mean by fluently, but if you mean I read, yes I read.
I used Giuliani merely as an example. I don’t think it is any secret that FR had a lot of ‘zots’ (as they are called here) when he ran for the nomination. I simply pointed out that his personal life was a big issue about him, as it is with me. This is the same reason I cannot support Gingrich.
If this upsets people so be it, but if I can be questioned about my join date and any other term you want to use, I can equally question some over their support of Gingrich.
Regarding grudges ? What are you talking about ? Again I am just as likely to have an opinion and debate about football or any sport here as a discussion on the election.Doesn’t make it a grudge it is simply an opinion.
You can block someone? How?
Yes, you can block people...
a) you have to use Firefox or Google Chrome browser. some might say other browsers work too b) you have to install the add-on called Greasemonkey. That is not hard to do... In firefox, goto pull-down menu Tools / Add-ons / Get Add ons / and then "search all add-ons" for Greasemonkey hmm... there are so many pages of 'hits' there, you still may have to hunt for it... OK, so THIS link will find it faster https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/greasemonkey/?src=search it will show 2.4 million users, and this icon After that is finished... c) then, you go to the place where most Greasemonkey scripts are cataloged (userscripts.org) and search for killfile Once again, THIS link will find that faster too... http://snowplow.org/martin/greasemonkey/killfile.user.js When you click on that it should ask if you want to install killfile. d) After you finish that, on most FR threads, on every post, to the right of [Report Abuse], you will also see [kill] and [hide comment] Forget about [hide comment] for now... When you press [kill] the person's post goes bye-bye plus all other and future posts by that person as well... ...and their words get replaced with, for example: Comment by Plutarch blocked. [unkill] [show comment] Then, your blood pressure won't be bothered by that person again. You can add as many annoying bots/trolls/hecklers to your blocked list as you like, AFAIK. If you ever wish to check if some turkey is still being a jerk, you can check one of their blocked posts by clicking [show comment]. ...that only temporarily 'un-hides' that one post without "unblocking" that user. Now, here is where the [hide comment] link is useful.... ...after having reviewed that one 'un-hiden' post, [hide comment] can be used to re-hide it.
All that is relatively easy and takes about one minute. You are done.
Now, if you know a little programming, and you see something in a GM script like this that is slightly wrong, or you think you could improve upon, you can just go in and tweak it yourself. (and keep track of what you changed for future reference) For example... A) it does not work on EVERY FR topic, like "chat" for one... B) and I prefer all blocked posts to be even LESS noticeable, so I personally make them smaller, and italics, and grey'ed out like this...
Comment by Plutarch blocked. [unkill] [show comment] |
For anyone who is capable of editing code, its easy to tweak things like (A) or (B), otherwise one of us that knows how, could tell the author the suggested changes and he might include them, so everyone else would eventually get the newer version. Note: The fix for (A) is easy, as follows ... On the line that says "freerepublic" I changed this... /focus/f-(news|chat)/ to this... /focus/[a-z][a-z-]*/ And for the less important esthetics 'fix' (B) the change would go like this ... On the line that says "<p>Comment by __SHORTUSER__ blocked." I changed this... <p>Comment by to this... <p><small><i><span style="background-color: #CCCCCC;">Comment by AND 3 lines below that line, I changed this... '</p></div>', to this... '</span></i></small></p></div>', If you like this tool, there are lots of other Greasemonkey scripts you might like. For example, Free Republic Posting Form Enhancer makes posting things at FR much nicer and easier, And there are things at (userscripts.org)that can zot facebook ads, or make google better, etc...
Sweet! Thanks.
Thanks for the recommendation. I’ll definitely keep it in mind, although just reading the news is enough to make me want to throw myself in front of a bus.

And thank goodness for that!
This movie lays out the progression of socialism in America and when it started. It shows how subtle it’s been and how many fronts we’ve been attacked on.....from within.
It sounds very good.
