Better late than never. I like Herman Cain much better than Newt or Perry, but it was silly to argue that he can’t sign because it requires him to “advance” pro-life legislation when this guy is promising to make his “999” tax plan a reality.
Shameful political stunt.
Is he still supportive of openly gay people in his staff still, or has he decided against gay lifestyles too? NOT that there’s anything wrong with it...
Just trying to keep up...
Cain has lived an incredible pro life existence, and I don’t think he needed to sign this pledge. These stupid pledges - ALL OF THEM - are simply a way to make the organization that developed the pledge more important.
He’s put more than a million of his OWN money into pro life causes, more than any of the self important bureaucrats with this organization has done. So in a way, I”m sorry he felt the need to play their game. He’s lived it for crying out loud!
Herman Cain has always been 100% pro-life. As a very successful CEO, he knows the devil is in the details, and he is not dictator material. So he has now signed the pledge only to prove he is, indeed, 100% pro-life. It wasn’t wafflling, nor did it indicate any change of mind.
Well, it looks like we were right and Herman was wrong about “advancing legislation”.
Was this done for Political purposes?
I am most definitely pro-life, but I reject the whole notion of pressuring candidates to sign pledges about this area or about any other.
Herman Cain has already proven he is pro life.
And a wicked, immoral, unconstitutional pledge that is.
It includes a promise to sign “fetal pain” legislation, which bases whether or not to protect a child based on pain, not personhood, as the Constitution of the United States, and the constitutions of all the States, explicitly and imperatively require.
I will not support any candidate for any office who has signed this pledge. It is a gross breach of the sacred oath of office.
Cain continued, I will not appoint judges who legislate from the bench. I will appoint judges who will strictly interpret the U.S. Constitution and understand the limitations on government and separations of power set forth in the U.S. Constitution. Where my powers in the Executive Branch are concerned, I will work at all times to oppose government funding of abortion. I will veto any legislation that contains funds for abortions. I will do everything that a President can do constitutionally to advance the culture of life.
I think it was Michelle Malkin who wrote one of Cain’s principal advisors was his worst enemy, and imo, might be the one advising him to not be too prolific about his pro-life stance.
