OK, i wanna share with you my own experience. (be patient with my English, i am from far away ) I am from Bosnia, and as some of you may know it was hell here from 92-95, anyway, for 1 whole year i lived and survived in a city of 50 000- 60 000 residents WITHOUT: electricity, fuel,running water,real food distribution, or distribution of any goods, or any kind of organized law or government.The city was surrounded for 1 year and in that city actually it was SHTF situation. (SNIP) Some of us was better prepared, but most of families had food for couple of days, some of us had pistol, few owned AK-47 when all started.

Anyway, after one month or two, gangs started with their nasty job,hospital looked like butchery, police force vanished, 80 percent of hospital staff gone home. I was lucky, my family was big in that time (15 members in one big house, 5-6 pistols, 3 Kalashnikov s) so we lived and survived, most of us. (SNIP) After three months rumors started abouth first deaths from starvation,deaths from low temperatures, we stripped every door , window frame from abandoned houses for heating, i burned all my own furniture for heating, lot of people died from diseases, mostly from bad water (two of my family members), we used rain water for drink, several times i ate pigeons, once i ate rat. Money did not worth sh..

we traded things, black market worked, few examples: for 1 corned beef can you could have woman for couple of hours(sounds bad, but it was reality) i remember, most of that womans were just desperate mothers, candles, lighters,antibiotics,fuel,batteries, rifle ammo and of course food, we fight like animals for that.

I used a plastic coffee ‘can’ to store mine in.

Mixed thoughts here. Broadcasting on a radio don’t seem to be keeping a low profile. Now listening might help in gathering intel.

Don’t know if you found this link

http://htsurv.blogspot.com/

Selco started a blog at some point. Don’t know if it’s still active. His storytelling is addictive. Can’t stop reading it. Put me in a strange, pensive mood, but very good insights.

I did something similar before. The plastic split. That is why I use canning jars with plastic lids now. That seems to be working. I do use the mix for well water treatment. I have a 120 gallon holding tank. The water is safe to drink raw, but not very appetizing. We have problems with hydrogen sulfide. 1 to 3 parts per million bleach treatment solves that issue in about 20 minutes. Have been doing this for almost 15 years.

A glass canning jar with a sandwich baggie atop then the metals jar lid works too. I do it all the time when mixing up my 20 to 1 gargling solution. Apple Sauce is now coming in thick plastic jars with a plastic lid that has a ‘gummy’ ring to seal it during canning process. These are very useful storage jars and can be prepped quickly with boiling water poured over the cleaned jars and lids.

Yep. Seriously or Series. I learned the hard way. Everything ferrous within a couple feet will corrode. That is why I went the canning jar route with the plastic threaded tops (walmart). I also labeled each one with the mix recipe. Saved many of my older blue label bleach bottles (in the barn). Figured I could mix up fresh bleach for barter.

Come on Kartman, if you had a pile of gold coins you could bribe your way out of that hellish city. Then you wouldn’t need your silly tablets.

Feminists have no idea how quickly the “status of women” will revert to Dark Ages levels in a SHTF scenario. They simply don’t care to consider it.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
in a SHTF scenario, I think pretty much all single women realize their status will be that of housemaid/concubine...unless they have some very valuable skill such as medicine or blue collar repair work.
For that matter, men who lack physical strength or some kind of repair skill won’t even have the value of a housemaid/concubine. So in the worst case scenario, the housemaid/concubine option might be considered a blessing.
Remember the stories of the “rape trees” the mexican illegals walk past to get to america? There is a similar practice in other countries where a boat ride is required to get to america. Every female on every boat gets raped repeatedly as part of her fare.
My takeaway from this is that if you are alone, you are dead.
You my friend, get it. Best of luck in the coming days.
word gets out who is a murderer and who isn’t. But there are no guarantees.
Here’s what struck me most about selco’s story:
1. that the warlords and their gangs do not go away when the war ends. Once they seize power, they keep it. indefinitely.
2. that selco does not want to draw attention to himself even today...that he does not want to discus ideology or politics. I consider this proof that the warlords are still in power. It reminds me of trying to get an irishman to talk about the IRA. They just won’t do it.
3. that selco claimed he was told to “stop talking about it”. I think the instinct for clans and tribes is still strong with him. I think it is his family that is telling him to stop it, not the warlords. In that SHTF he went through, your clan is your life. You die without your clan. Your clan knows all about you and you know all about every one of its members. I think he will go to his grave still maintaining that close clannish life he developed in the war and that is the reason he is at times hesitant to talk about certain aspects. They know he is writing about this because he tells them. That is the nature of his family clan.
4. My hunch is that selco is a non religious muslim as is his family. I believe he has a vague feeling about god and does not care much about theology or the preachings of any one man. He indicated he had a catholic wife who was not the same faith as himself. He indicated that young men with fierce beliefs in any certain ideology(politics or religion) are the ones that joined the gangs and seek out enemies to prey on. this makes very much sense to me. It also makes sense to me why selco would never join one of the gangs since he is not a fierce believer in any dogma or politics of any kind. He may even be jewish. I have known several jews with this kind of outlook on the world and life.
That’s some top-drawer deduction right there; Sherlock Holmes would be proud (or at least Dr. Watson) :-)
Look at the ‘proof’ and ask yourself how you would use alcohol for cuts, to treat wounds, to add to water for germ suppression, or pour over an emergency surgery impliment ... and it's a trade-able commodity.
I’m thinking a high proof—I hardly ever drink, so what kind of proof are we talking about. And is there a recommended brand and size?
