Just say NO to entitlements for illegals! If you educate them then you will be forced to either give amnesty or change the law so that they can be legally employed. And once we reward them even more for breaking the law there will be no border and no sovereignty left.
If the schools knowingly harbor an illegal, they need to be treated like a company who hires an illegal! FINE THEM, send the kids and their illegal parents back to their own country for an education.
Rick Perry, I like you. But a little word of advise. You are not going to get very far by calling your audience “heartless”.That word is exclusively owned by Democrat campaigners. They could sue you for plagarism.
So if the illegals don't get Perry's college tuition discount, they can't get an eduction? I did not know that "college eduction" was now a "right"?
Do we want this type of thinking in the White House?
I understand the plight of kids who were brought here when they were young and know no other country. They can become citizens—but until they do, why should they stand ahead of citizens from adjoining states for in-state tuition benefits?
I paid out-of-state benefits when my kids went to college. Why should a non-citizen get subsidies I don’t get? That’s not the same as not educating them, especially if they get on a path to citizenship—it’s just removing a benefit they get that the citizens of 49 out of 50 states do not.
IF you'd rather NOT be pinged FReepmail me.
IF you'd like to be added FReepmail me. Thanks.

In-state tuition for illegals ought to cause immediate lawsuit for out-of-state legal kids to get the same tuition. Beyond encouraging illegal immigration, it is very clearly an issue of equality before the law. The illegal and the out-of-stater are on the same footing with regard to the reason for having in-state tuition.
I could not disagree with your position any more vehemently, although I will not engage in personal attacks over it.
These R-I-N-O's deserve a free trip to the Tar and Feather pit.
I’m confused - are we talking about children, or college aged adults?
Instate tuition for illegals or their anchor babies is the wrong thing to do with our tax dollars. This encourages everyone who can, to enter our country illegally, and we must foot the bill. We abide by the law, the do not. Illegals and their offspring must be deported permanently.
Perhaps it’s a bit cynical on Perry’s part but he may simply be one of the first Republicans to realize that large numbers of the illegals get to vote here. They have heretofore been a wholly owned subsidiary of the democrats. I don’t agree with providing benefits to illegals but I really don’t agree with letting their vote saddle us with another four years of obama.
I’m not sure what to do since simple, workable solutions seem pretty scarce.
Sorry but Rick blew it BIG TIME last last night and lost me as a supporter in the process! Here’s why.
When the legislature passed the bill to provide in state tuition for illegals the make up of the Texas legislature was much different than it is today. Republicans (not conservatives) held a one seat majority in the Texas Senate (16 republicans to 15 democrats). The Texas house was composed of 78 democrats and 72 Republicans. Today the Texas Senate is composed of 19 republicans (not conservatives) and 12 democrats. The Texas House has 101 Republicans and 49 democrats. That is a HUGE change over 10 years and one of the main reasons this has occurred is this very issue!
Rick Perry was dealt a bad hand back then. EVERY member of the legislature save four voted for this bill even though the public was adamantly opposed to it. Perry, the newly minted governor of Texas at that time, signed it into law and I seriously doubt that anyone would have done differently under the circumstances.
The public in Texas adamantly opposed the idea of granting in state tuition to illegals then and they still do today. It was shoved down our throats by the 77th legislature and that is, at least in part, why the current make up of the legislature is what it is!
Until today, I had thought Rick Perry understood all this but his words last night convince me beyond all doubt that I was wrong! He doesn’t get it and chose to insult those of us in Texas who have always opposed in state tuition for illegals! He’s done! He will only sink the polls from this point until he finally decides to pack it in!
For the record Mitt Romney is lying like a rug about what Rick Perry said in his book (If you don’t believe that get yourself a copy of the book and read it for yourself!) and I won’t support him either!
As of this moment I’m back in the wilderness as to whom I will support. I know for sure I will not support Rick Perry, Mitt Romney, Jon Huntsman, or Ron Paul.
Herman Cain is looking mighty good to me at this moment but I’m going to wait and see what Newt comes out with next week in his new Contract with America!
Perry stated the truth...most of the other debaters just said what people wanted to hear. A big bunch of liars especially Mittens. Bachmann says cut off all government monies to the illegals...boy, do I agree with that...but on Bachmann’s part it is nothing more than rhetoric...what the crowd and the tv audience wanted to hear.
Granted, I don't believe illegals should get anything at all. That way, there would be no incentive for them to come here. We wouldn't need boots or fences. AND - it would all be free! It wouldn't cost the American tax payer one red penny! Unfortunately, when it comes to D.C., - "It's the votes, stupid."
i used to live across the freeway from pflugerville in wells branch.
Thank you and God Bless You!
Thank you and God Bless You!
If my legal kids can’t go to college at in state tuition rates why should illegals? Perry insulted ME when he called me heartless cause I don’t think they deserve that rate.
PLEASE ANSWER! DO YOU THINK I AM HEARTLESS TOO? DO YOU LIKE PERRY INSULT PEOPLE WHO DO NOT AGREE WITH YOU?
