Freepers, I need your help.
A couple of weeks ago, I had a mini-stroke. As of this writing, I still feel horrible. I get fatigued easily (like I've read the New York Slimes )and I get constant headaches. Also, my short term memory is non-existent and my spelling has gone from lousy to it looks like Joe Biden is my editor.
Has anyone else had any experience with this ?
I had a mini-stroke, not a full blown one, so my cognitive abilities are still intact, except for my short term memory.
I was told to chew a couple of aspirin, not just swallow them.
Thank you. God bless you, too.
So the fatigue is normal, then ?
Get your ass to a doctor.(another one if necessary)
Or Lipitor? ANSWER ME, DAMN IT!!!
If the stroke is caused by a clot, yes, but if it's a hemorrhagic stroke, that aspirin could be fatal.
“when I go to the neurologist later this month.”
If you are not feeling well, don’t wait until “later this month”, go in the next day or two the latest. When there is a problem the doctor will fit you in.
Good luck and God bless for a complete recovery and no relapse.
A lot of people do have a complete recovery from a stroke, but you do need to take care to avoid another one.
I hope you are taking it easy, don’t overdo and try to not do anything stressful or strenous.
Just sent a prayer—it sounds as though you need to see a doctor about those headaches. Is your smile even? Any slurring to your speech?
I had a stoke in ‘07. Shut down my left side. You’re only a couple weeks removed from your vascular accident and it is going to take some more time for you to rewire and heal.
You should be taking it easy and follow whatever therapy program you are doing. What you are experiencing will get better. It took me about 30 days to start having reconnection with my left side and steadily I regained motion and usage but I still have some residual effects.
But I think the most important thought for you to have is never give up the belief you can fully recover.
The brain can rewire.
My heart is ok, other than the arrythmia caused by my diabetes.
But this certainly something to ask about. I’m the same age your husband was when he first started having symptoms.
I hope everything turned out ok. Thank you for sharing.
I take Cozaar and Calan for HBP.
Thank you for your prayers.
I’m 37.
My wife goes with me to every appointment.
If I don’t like what the neurologist says, I’ll definitely get a second opinion.
That’s a great post. Sounds almost like my regimen, except for the herbs. I would recommend the Ester C, natural E, B-Complex 100, and raw bee pollen. Maybe swallow the fish oil with a gulp of Udo’s (mainly flax seed) Oil. Oh and by the way, the fish oil needs to be Nature’s Bounty. I’ve tried numerous brands, and the Nature’s Bounty brand is simply the best in every way.

I guess the fatigue is normal, then.
Seriously guys, advising someone to take aspirin when you have no idea what other drugs he has been taking or what kind of stroke he has had?
My speech was slurred for a little while, but that came back once I got out of the hospital.
My big concern is my short term memory. I can explain things like why Chairman Obama can’t bypass Congress and invoke the 14th Amendment, but I can’t remember where I left my car keys.
My prayers are definitely with you! God bless.
