Listen to the pledge of allegiance that runs alongside the patriotic images, and later to the one that overlays video of previous U.S. Open winners: (VIDEO)

And they apologized for leaving out part but didn’t say which part. They’re still morons.
I only wish, if they were going to be this stupid and insensitive, that they would have done it a little closer to election day 2012, maybe before a major NFL game in the Autumn. The libs in America can NOT win on these types of cultural war issues. The guano is scared out of them, because in their heart of hearts they know a) the size of the opposition in America; and b) the fact that this Sleeping Giant can and will roar to life and engulf them, completely routing their defensive positions.
This is a great lesson in media progressivism.
They find “indivisible” to be offensive.
They find “one nation” to be offensive.
Actually, yes. It’s surprising that NBC would let it’s viewers know that an indivisible nation; one nation.........
That’s offensive to them.
I learned a long time ago that the media disdains this country but this is how bad it really is. They want to rip us apart as badly as Obama does.
That’s because ‘THE INFILTRATED MEDIA” are ridden with vermin like the infiltrated WH. It’s going to take a lot of traps.
Lot of talk on this forum favoring Texas succeeding from the United States.
It’s secede. Though...methinks they are succeeding compared to lots of states, too.
"Boys and girls, I have been listening to you recite the Pledge of Allegiance all semester and it appears that it has become monotonous to you or could it be you do not know the meaning of those words. If I may, I would like to recite the Pledge and give to you a definition of the words.I----meaning me, an individual, a committee of one.
Pledge----dedicate all of my worldly goods to give without self pity.
Allegiance----my love and my devotion.
To the Flag----our standard, Old Glory, a symbol of freedom. Wherever she waves, there is respect because your loyalty has given her a dignity that shouts freedom is everybody's job.
Of the United----that means that we have all come together.
States----individual communities that have united into 48 great states. 48 individual communities with pride and dignity and purpose, all divided with imaginary boundaries, yet united to a common cause, and that's love of country.
Of America.
And to the Republic----a republic, a state in which sovereign power is invested in representatives chosen by the people to govern. And government is the people and it's from the people to the leaders, not from the leaders to the people.
For which it stands!
One nation----meaning, so blessed by God.
Indivisible----incapable of being divided.
With Liberty----which is freedom and the right of power to live one's life without threats or fear or any sort of retaliation.
And justice----The principle and quality of dealing fairly with others.
For all.----which means, boys and girls, it's as much your country as it is mine."Since I was a small boy, two states have been added to our nation, and two words have been added to the Pledge of Allegiance "under God." Wouldn't it be a pity if someone said, "That's a prayer" and that would be eliminated from schools, too?
I was going to suggest that someone send this to Jon Stewart in light of his recent unconditional denial that NBC, CBS, NYT, NPR and the rest do not have a liberal bias. But he would explain it all away like he did on Fox News Sunday this morning.
And on the pre-agreed hand-signal from the leader, launch into a LOUD Pledge of Allegiance with all the trimmings in unison. I would love to see how the NBC soundroom and Today Show reporters handle that scene.
True on both counts.
CUT TO COMMERCIAL!!!(sigh)
I think he should leave the network. He is an example of everything bad about the bias in the news business. He was in the process of broadcasting the hallmark tournament of the only sport that is conducted under the honor system of one's own moral character.
In golf, players police themselves, they play the ball as it lies and self impose penalties.
On Sunday, Dan Hicks lied to a national audience of golf fans and devotees of the sport when he read the statement NBC prepared for him - ONE HE KNOWS WAS FALSE.
There was nothing inadvertent about the editing and he disgraced the telecast and the game by saying so. He should never be allowed in the booth again, in my opinion. The same goes for Johnny Miller who sat next to him and said nothing.
I disagree on Miller. While he did not say anything at that time, trust me he will in his own time
Johnny Miller is a true American and ain’t afraid to speak his mind and soon,he will
Imagine Hicks getting on the air during the telecast and saying, "you know, NBC just gave me a prepared statement to read, but I just KNOW it's false. It MUST be -- it makes no sense. So I refuse to read it. The REAL reason my employers edited out "under God" from the anthem is because they're a bunch of anti-God liberal activists intent on secularizing the country."
Obviously he'd be fired before the end of the telecast had he done that. So expecting Hicks to be fired for reading a prepared statement written by his own employers is dreamland stuff.
Let’s face it. The US Open was broadcast internationally and the intent was to broadcast the sentiment to the overseas audience. I’m sure that audience still found the piece quite patriotic.
listen to what you don’t hear
where are the parents of the children who cited the Pledge
arent any parents upset their children were used this way ?
No - I expect Mr Hicks (whom I've always admired) to stand up like a man and refuse to read the statement until he knows the story behind it. It is likely that he never even saw the commercial.
But, think about it. Golf, the business that makes him a ton of money is governed by honor and morals. We all know of multiple times where players on the course have called penalties on themselves. Two that come to mind are Davis Love III and Brian Davis who cost themselves trips to the Masters.
What Hicks has shown is that he will sell out to dollars and what NBC has shown is that they can buy a man's soul and honor.
It's my opinion, but I have no respect for the man from this day on if he doesn't step up and do the right thing by denouncing what was done to us and to him by political activists that work for his employer. At any rate, I have written USGA President Jim Hyler Jr. to ask him to do the right thing for "the good of the game" (as his commercials say) and sever the relationship with NBC.
A couple of thoughts on this situation. It absolutely was an intentional ommission by NBC producers to leave “Under God” out of the piece. I sat here on Sunday and watched the opening segment, without interruption and knew right away it was ommitted.....
But I didn’t scream foul or was mad, probably only because I was stunned that it happened.
As for Dan(Mr. Hannah Storm)Hicks. 100% if he had any objectivity he needed to stand up and say something. That he didn’t only shows what kind of wimp he is. Even if NBC canned him, what Hannah Storm makes a 7 figure contract at ESPN. Did he think ESPN would blackball her too??? Not an excuse....
As for Johnny Miller, David Feherty and conservative golfers on Tour, they will speak up at a time and event of their choosing where the interpretation will be clear and straightforward!!
