Earlier this month a SWAT team burst into the home of Jose Guereña. Awaken by his wifes screams that armed men were breaking into the house, Guereña grabbed his rifle to defend his family. The SWAT team shot him 60 times. As Guereña lay bleeding, they blocked paramedics from tending to his wounds. An hour later he died.
Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik blamed the baleful influence of right wing talk radio for the death. If it werent for the repeated assertions by talk show hosts like Rush Limbaugh that people have a Constitutional right to keep and bear arms this tragedy would never have occurred, Dupnik argued. When people other than law enforcement agents are armed these kinds of mishaps are inevitable.
Though Guereña never fired his weapon, in fact the safety was still on when he was shot by multiple sheriffs deputies, Dupnik insisted that the killing was warranted. Guereña lived in a bad neighborhood, Dupnik claimed. That alone creates a presumption of guilt. A guy with a gun in a bad neighborhood is a threat. My men had every right to take him down.
The fact that Guereña was a Marine who had served two tours in Iraq was used to bolster Dupniks case. Look, a Marine with a weapon represented a severe danger to my men, Dupnik said. If they hadnt fired first he probably wouldve killed them all. It was only quick thinking that saved the day.
As for blocking the paramedics, Dupnik maintained that the hours delay was necessitated by the need for a search of the premises to ensure that there were no other gunmen, guns, or drugs to be dealt with. If that means a suspect has to bleed while we do it, so be it.
No other gunmen, guns, or contraband of any sort were found in the home. Guereñas wife and two children were in the house during the raid. Fortunately, the SWAT team refrained from shooting them.

‘semi-news/semi-satire’...
How much of this is satire? What was the swat team there for originally?
As Dr. Evil would say, ‘I need the info.’
Excellent.
He was aiming a gun at law enforcement? That’s a dangerous thing to do... and I’ll bet the officers were yelling out who they were. This does NOT make the case against gun ownership.
There’s no evidence he was waving a gun at them. They had sunglasses on looking in, and it sounds like the “big gun” was planted by SWAT. You didn’t watch the video of the jackboots beating down the door without identifying themselves, did you? Their “siren” sounded more like a few second car alarm.
As it stands right now, it is my belief that Jose Guereña was murdered by that SWAT team.
Every encounter with law enforcement, no matter where, no matter when, is potentially deadly. Stay unarmed if LEOs are involved.
To be honest I thought it was real at first, because in reality it is too damn close to reality to be satire.
I’m afraid that we Americans don’t quite understand that our country has been hijacked by forces that believe our Constitution is about some penciled comments on a piece of paper, easily erased and modified, and that protection from the forces of fictitious evil is more important than freedom.
The Egyptians understand a lot more than we do about this and what it takes to get and keep freedom. We Americans think it is about having a right to watch the NFL or Dancing With The Stars at will while everything else from our privacy to home security is A-OK to sacrifice.
Satire post, but that’s a good serious question.
This all happened around 9:00 AM, long after the sun comes up in Tucson. Guerena had just worked a night shift at a copper mine, and was sleeping in a back bedroom.
His wife was in a front bedroom with one of their two sons. She saw someone looking into the window, got scared, and yelled to her husband.
I get pinged to John’s stuff every week, and I still came close to spitting blood over this article until I checked to see who had written it...damn; he’s good.
You really got everyone going on this one John. No one ruining it for everyone else within the first few posts :)
Hopefully he will be brought to justice.
Silly me. Didn’t see the sarcasm tag! Sigh. Been had again.
Excellent, John. Glad you covered this travesty.
>> Too early for jokes.
Semmens isn’t joking around.
The more that comes out on this story, the more it appears there is something deeper going on.
IMHO, I wouldn’t be surprised if the Sheriff’s Dept isn’t involved in highly criminal activity, Guerena and his family became aware or were in a compromising position, and theyd been targeted to be removed from the equation.
Between the home invasion of relatives and the convenient 3rd party SWAT raid, where those directly responsible are removed from direct responsibility, and those who directed the raid are conveniently senior to any investigation, it strongly appears that corruption similar to criminal activities South of the Border, are now meandering into the border states.
The first indications of such corruption are likely to be by those who are military with devotion to the Constitution, becoming exposed to local corruption, and searching for veritable authority to remove those who are corrupt.
Unfortunately, the corruption may have spread like a contagion so deeply into our society that no trustworthy authority remains.
*snort* Sounds WAY too much like something Sheriff Dipstick would say!
Sunday AM bttt....
