Thor begins the Marvel comics big push towards the much anticipated Avengers movie, scheduled for next summer. Along with the upcoming Captain America, the Incredible Hulk, and the previously seen Iron Man, they make up the core of the Marvel Universe's team of Earth's Mightiest heroes.

But this movie looks so stupid I just can't see myself paying to watch it.
Why the excerpt from your own blog?
I just came from the movie and can report it was semi-enjoyable, and a decent, if not clever movie. It certainly lacked the fun of Iron Man 1 & 2, and not the uber-action fest of either Transformers. The plot was essentially linear, without much complexity.
I will say I thought the choice of lesser-known actors (besides our intrepid scientist Natalie Portman) worked well.
I will say, the theater I saw it at, Marcus Theaters, had the audio volume so unbelievably loud, that I found myself wincing during the ‘splosions.
Stupid movies have a certain charm. They are a sign of our times.
I just came from the theatre. It is a good movie.
It is how humans can teach the “gods” a few things......which is in-keeping with the comic.
I thought the scenes of Asgard were well-done.
It leaves you wanting more action, but Marvel is stringing us along for all the sequels.
If you did not stay until after the credits, you missed another setup for the Avengers Movie.
My biggest problem with Thor is the clip showing the arrival of the Norse goddess Sif on Earth:
She arrives, naked, in the middle of southern redneck's hunting camp. Naked woman alone in the middle of the woods -- what should a southern gentleman do? Try to help? Heck, no! His first thought is to rape her.
If you're going to forcibly seduce a woman, what's your first move? That's right -- he chugs about a pint of whiskey as he walks toward her.
Now, let's get one thing straight: you don't mess with Norse gods or goddesses. Sif give him a slap and sends him flying about 20 feet.
Okay. A naked woman, alone in the woods, has just thrown you 20 feet based on your crass behavior. What's your next move? That's right -- he decides to kill her. He pulls out an enormous knife and advances on the woman.
Ummmmm. Have I explained that you don't mess with Norse gods or goddesses? Yeah. With no trouble at all, she takes the knife away from him and throws it practically through a fully grown pine tree.
Alright. She's thrown you 20 feet, disarmed you, and demonstrated superhuman skill and strength with a bladed weapon. What's the smart thing to do at this point? You bet! He tries to kill her with his bare hands.
This doesn't work out so well either.
This is not the kind of stupid movie which I enjoy.
Oh my goodness, this is going to be an Obama thread soon.
This is not the kind of stupid movie which I enjoy.
Did he think this was PMS rage or what?
Perhaps, I should have said that the “gods” could learn from humans because we are mortal and fragile.
Please don’t bring Obama into a good movie and ruin it for everyone!
Sorry, didn’t mean to spike the football. :-)
Yeah, dumb and stupid flick. Sticking with PBS Antique Road Show and their Fund Raisers.

“Thor?”
“A little bit, but I took a couple of aspirin.”
I am only a few years from 60, but my head turned when I saw the Thor commerical on tv. Now that is a handsome young man!!!!
I bet you'll love this one...
I like Rutger Hauer but this might be a bit too much.
That may be the kind of stupid movie I can get behind. Hauer was great in “Flesh+Blood”.
Every Thursday I think of Thor......
Torsdag!
I think that clip is a prank. Pretty certain it’s from the Kyle XY television series.
