In an interview with AP, Donald Trump raises the issue of Barack Obama's undergraduate grades and his admission to 2 Ivy League schools -- Columbia University and Harvard Law. Trump avers that Obama wasn't merely an OK student, he was "terrible," and wonders how that merited admission to 2 highly competitive schools.
Trump states that he doesn't have access to Obama's well-hidden transcripts, and doesn't specify the source of his knowledge that Obama was a "terrible" student (presumably at Occidental College and the elite Punahou School in Honolulu). However, given Obama's existing biographies, it is no secret that he failed to apply himself to his studies when he was younger.
Trump does not utter the words "affirmative action," but that is clearly the implied answer to the questions he raises. Richard Baehr comments:
Most Americans do not like affirmative action. if Trump has found some transcripts, it would explain why Obama has hidden them, and damage his halo for brilliance (though it may take more time to change David Brooks' mind), and be pretty embarrassing and a distraction for him, raising more questions of what he has hidden.The interesting aspect of all of this is that the sort of families who place greatest emphasis on getting their children into elite colleges also tend to be the urban elites whose support for Obama has been strong. It is not clear to me that the revelation that Obama got a lot of help getting into Columbia and Harvard would sour them on him. But it would, as Rich writes, diminish the reputation for brilliance, which is already suffering in the face of demonstrated lack of understanding of basic economics, foreign affairs, and the effects of taxes.
Studies of ten of the most elite schools admissions files revealed that being black is worth an extra 330 SAT points (back when the maximum was 1600).
Trump can go after Obama all he wants and I won't complain. I'm waiting for the "Trump should be POTUS because he talks good on TV" crowd to disappear.

Committing fraud to get school aid, would be a big deal to many people. Picking and choosing what country you are from based on the perks and working the system.
The liberals will love the fact that Obama was an affirmative action student at Harvard...they will see it as proof that AA works. They don’t care that we have an idiot for a president, because it makes them feel good inside to have promoted a person of color over better qualified candidates.
Hmm. Both of his birth parents were alive at the time but he didn’t thank them, whoever they were. He thanked his grandparents.

I think this is an angle that Trump and the rest of the GOP needs to pursue.
Hit Obama on his Kenyan birth, find a way to release his college transcripts and point out all the advantages Obama got by affirmative action.

I agree with you on opening up all his college records. I would love to know how this supposed poor kid with terrible grades made it into all of these prestigious schools..... I would like to know what name he used and what aid he received.
I know how difficult it is to get into these schools. I have an extremely bright child that has not missed being on the high honor roll throughout his entire high school years. We are now on the last term and just in AP Calc. this kid pulled off a 100. That is a college grade class! MIT rejected him - weird isn’t it! Must be some extremely smart kids out there or affirmative action/foreign students get preferential treatment. Well, my family has been in this country since 1630 and on my great grandmother was an Indian. I refuse to consider our family any better than any other family or use any type of funding for Indians and there isn’t any special treatment for a person that has white skin. SO...... (sorry, just had a little rant there :) )
Of course it would have been a hoot if I allowed him to submit an application to Yale or Harvard, but I do not feel that they deserve him. I don’t appreciate their political standings. But, he did get accepted to WPI which I feel is the best school around.

I’m really glad he is taking this route! I can’t see any other way that he made it through these colleges. I’m choking on the cost right now. This will be my 2nd child in college and we are worried! I can’t imagine how BO paid for Occidental, Columbia and Harvard.... It doesn’t add up?

Harvard would give your kid a free ride on tuition should he be accepted.
WPI is a fine school with a top notch faculty. I wish him well.

An MIT interviewer tells me that 5s on the AP Calc tests (AB and BC) carry a lot of weight with admissions. Did your son take the AP calc tests?
Trump is brilliant the way he is going on the attack. First he says that Obama birth certificate is missing or nonexistent. This becomes the default reality until the Obama people can prove otherwise. The same is true of Obama’s collage records. Trump can make any accusation he wants and simply say “Prove me wrong”. He is boxing them in and their weak defenses are looking thinner and thinner.
Basically they only defense they currently have is just to keep saying nany-nany poo-poo to everything that comes up.
Yes, he did just a couple of weeks ago. He was talking to me about possibly getting a 5 and I was like whaaatttt? I thought a 5 was bad. He had to explain to me that a 5 was good!
His 3 terms for calc AP were 100, 99, 100 so I think he’ll do well on it. AP Physics he got 93, 95, 94. He’s pretty bright!
I don’t believe we’ll receive his test results until July.

I read that there is a question on the bar application that asks if you have ever gone by any other names. The speculation is that Barry answered no and later the bar realized he had lied on the application and thats why his law license has been put on involuntary inactive.
Comments like this are a great irritant to me. It is a Leftist tactic to try to silence the opposition, inferring they travel in packs and aren't to be trusted. Just say your piece and let it go at that.
I happen to agree with you on this issue and I am not among the “Trump should just shut up” crowd but those tactics are insulting to you and to any who may disagree with you.
