A Chilling Study in Cause and Effect - Finding the true cause of the Kandahar Riots
Illinois Review ^ | April 3, 2011 A.D. | John F. Di Leo

In a small town in Florida on March 20, the pastor of a small church held a public event: burning a koran for his audience and a video camera. His American Christian audience reacted as one would expect from them: they were happy to be a part of this provocative event; they returned to their homes and jobs after the service, and went on with their lives.

The world continued to turn… nobody of substance cared about Pastor Jones’ latest attempt at news coverage… until almost two weeks later, when it made the news half a planet away, in Afghanistan.

The president of Afghanistan denounced the event; imams and mullahs hammered it in their mosques. Their Afghan muslim audience reacted as one would expect from them: they streamed out into the streets, hunting down foreigners, beating hundreds of UN aides, NATO staffers, contractors, travelers, journalists, soldiers… rioting in the streets, burning the shops in their own neighborhoods, destroying property, attacking innocent bystanders. At least a hundred injuries and dozens of killings were confirmed by the second day of the riots.

In a world in which thousands die tragically every day – from starvation to murder, from disease and neglect – these events might not seem particularly newsworthy. When aren’t there riots in that part of the world? When aren’t innocents killed? It happens every day.

Amazingly, I actually have read the koran. A mess of total nonsense I found it to be.

In war, we make the enemy fear us, or we kill them. If we don’t, we lose the war. But you are right about the current feminized era.

Here’s the thing. When you go to war, you are at war with a country and its people. Sure, there were good German civilians who secretly rooted for the Allies, and did all they could to see to the defeat of the Nazi regime. I guess.

But the bombs we dropped on their cities killed them, too.

This is not, or at least should not be a police action.

Since there is no protection of “freedom of expression” actually IN the constitution and it is a creation of the court in the last 60 yrs, I have no problem with laws preventing the burning of the flag.

School authorities can prevent confederate flags or the Gay Lesbian and Transexual flag from adorning young morons. I am not an advocate of “freedom of expression” for students.

As to your other question there is no difference in impact of burning a Koran that you own or one that is stolen. Islamaniacs don’t care if it is stolen or bought. Ideologies are never protected by burning books, they might even be more effectively undermined by doing so since that shows a weakness in the power of communication.

Look at the Soviet Union, for 80 yrs bibles were banned and religion suppressed but what was one of the first things that happened after Communism collapsed. Churches immediately reopened and people flocked to them. Church attendance is probably higher in Russia today than it is here.

I thought the whole point of being in Afghanistan was to avoid another 9/11.

Just for the sake of argument, Let’s say that I agree with everything that you said, and for the first two paragraphs, I actually do.

All that being said, it does make a difference, if not to the Muslims, then to us. Do we let ourselves be dictated to by a group of 7th century savages, or not? Is this country run for the benefit of Americans, or for those that wish to live under a caliphate?

You and I obviously are not going to agree on this, so I think that I will just go out tonight, soak my FREE copy of the koran in bacon grease, and use it to start my charcoal for some grilled chicken thighs. It’s just going to taste that much sweeter for it sticking a thumb in the eyes of our enemies.

We are not at war with Islam (it is probably unconstitutional) but we are at war with SOME Muslims not all.

As to the refusal to understand the nature of Islam I would put most of that at the feet of the education system. Since the Catholic Church has had periods of violent repression of dissident groups it is easy for the duplicitous to equate the behavior of the Church (500 years ago) with that of Islamists today. So the argument that one of the pillars of Western Civilization was just as violent can only be refuted by those with some actual knowledge of history. They are quite rare in this society.

I still maintain that the best way to refute Islam is to actually read the Koran. It is hard to get through being nonsense filled and all but I read it in the crapper where I had no choice.

As I have said elsewhere, the Koran is the worst piece of religious literature (outside the early Muhammed Speaks newspaper of the Black Muslims) I have ever read, far worse than the Buddhist texts, the Zoroastrians, the Hindus. Ludicrous through and through. Mo never even wrote it. It was compiled by his followers from scraps of his sermons and I am not even sure if he ever saw it. Even if he did he could neither read nor write.

Discussions of our military strategy and tactics are legitimate but that is not the point here. Nor are they the outcome of popular debate or decisions.

Yes, to deny the Islamist terrorists a base from which to operate.

Go right ahead and fire it up just don’t do it on the internet or call up the press. However, I would think that it would befoul any good food just the rancid smoke. Remember the smoke from Homer’s underwear when it was burned on the Simpsons? And evil spirit arose from it.

As long as these things are not able to be used to make our troops jobs harder and more dangerous I have no problem with burning it or using it for toilet paper which would be more appropriate.

But all that aside, who can argue that this was a good idea?

Who said it was a good idea?

Who can argue that it was a Christian thing to do?

Who said it was a Christian thing to do?

My point is that we don't respond to the retaliatory behavior with appeasement.

If I were calling the shots, we'd respond in kind. Only moreso.

So, if someone reads your post about the pastor having blood on his hands and kills him because of that blood, then you are to blame?

AS a country, we may not be at war with Islam, but we should be. I don’t know, exactly, why it would be unconstitutional.

However, as a civilization, we most certainly are at war with Islam, and will be till either they, or we, are destroyed. Sorta lie the Palestine/Israel situation. One will win; one will lose.

Well, I have just now announce my intention on the internet.

I ddon’t intend to cook the chicken with it, I’m just going to put it under my charcoal in a charcoal lighter to set the charcoal on fire.

I will be polluted neither physically, nor more importantly spiritually by the koran. Fire purifies, don’t cha know.

Are we “entitled” to riot and kill muslims in western civilization for jailing or killing converts to christianity in muslim countries?

It would seem your the confused one. Weather I like what is said or not, as an american, it is his right. I don't believe in condemning someone cause I don't like what he/she says as long its not illegal..

You didn't seem to read what I wrote or else it was beyond your understanding about freedom of speech...have a great day...

i will repeat what I said - it applies to you, personally:

“when you finally come to the understanding that our very existence as ‘infidels’ is provoking, you will realize there will never be appeasement, ever - ever. Just look to Israel for all the example you’ll ever need.

muslims need to get over themselves.”

and so do you

No, actually it sounds pretty childish, I think. Jesus said they were vipers, he didn’t go around making silly names for people.
