The Coupon Whisperer: Cheap Dog Food and Some Great Body Wash Coupons
The Coupon Whisperer ^ | March 22, 2011 | PJ-Comix

If you live in the Southeast, you're in luck. Starting Thursday, Publix will have a BOGO sale on 4 lb bags of Kibbles 'n Bits dry dog food. They normally sell for $4.99 but when you apply the $2 coupons from the Feb. 20 Red Plum they will only be about 50 cents each. This would be a good time to stock up on it. For only about 30 bucks you could have enough to feed your dog for a year.

However, if you don't live in a Publix area, there is still good news. This Sunday's Red Plum insert will have Axe shower gel coupons for Buy One Get One Free (BOGO). The only problem is that I have yet to see a store offer this item BOGO but there is always a first time. Even better news is that the April P&G insert will have a BOGO coupon for Gillette Body Wash and those I have seen BOGO in the stores so using your coupons on this item, you will get them for FREE.

I agree. My Vet says the Purina products are the best out of the less expensive brands. My dogs LOVE that Purina One.

It’s also really easy to cook for your dogs, which I also do. Rice, veggies, hamburger (any lean meat, really) cooked down in chicken stock makes a great kibble topping. My dogs love cooked carrots for some reason; gravy or not, LOL!

Homemade dog biscuits are easy to make, too. I have a recipe for making them in the bread machine. Super-easy.

My cats get Iams because it really cuts down on the fur balls and to not put too fine of a point on it, they poop out less because it has no filler. It’s worth the price for that fact alone! I HATE cleaning the catbox but it goes with the territory with indoor cats. *SHRUG*

You can try to use them at your grocery store. They are manufacturers coupons. I’ve used them at my Jewel (Albertsons) store a couple of times already. I just hand them over along with any other coupons and they’ve gone through. It doesn’t hurt to try it.

I am in ready agreement that dog food that is primarily meat-based (lamb, chicken, etc) is far better for dogs than grain-based dog foods.

However, the ideal is not always possible, though I would hope that a dog owner provides the best food for his dog which he can afford.

Our dogs used to eat Kibbles and Bits; however they both have gone to their maker. The German Shepherd spit out the little orange pieces; the birds got those. Good product!

You could donate the Almay Makeup and make $1500 just from buying it.

Of course, then you have to figure out what to buy with that $1500.

You might have trouble spending it since the next couple of weeks at Walgreens looks sort of lame.

Last week’s coupons were pretty much garbage. I didn’t even bother stocking up.

The Almay deal was awesome this week, but you’re right the deals have been rather boring lately.

The Costco brand dog and cat foods are pretty good, I think. First ingredient is chicken, not chicken meal. Good prices, too.

Just yesterday, I brought home Blue dog food, and oh my goodness, my dog is now in heaven. I never really thought to check the label of ingredients, and when I did, it really opened my eyes.

I thought Beneful was being generous to my dog, until I saw “corn” and “flavored” this and that.

But honestly, I never knew before this past week, and I believed I was being a great human owner.

I now know better. But I don’t fault owners if they can’t afford real food dog food. We really can’t either, but I’ll sacrifice and find sales.

I have got it planned out on how to roll some of it

Colgate plus speedstick plus filler will equal $5 after manufacturer’s coupons- get back 5

The big cost will be those 1.50 Colgate coupons.

Will also use some of it up on M&Ms 4 bags for 2.60 after working the Mars Easter coupon combined with Snickers Egg deal.
