The First Ladys office confirms that the White House chefs made one batch of beer using about a pound of honey from the First Ladys honey hive, on the South Lawn of the White House.
The chefs used the traditional methods to brew the beer, and the First Ladys office confirms that the Obamas paid for the equipment.
The batch was made so that the nearly 200 Super Bowl guests from members of Congress to celebrities like J-Lo -- could sample the new beer.

Well, since there are no huge international issues facing us currently, and there are no economic challenges at present, spending time and money for White House beekeepers and brew masters (equipment costs notwithstanding) is certainly appropriate, n'est ce pas?

Wonder which section of her garden has the poppies.
I think this "still" is disgusting. These people are just the worst examples for their girls. They're street people....

I can imagine Bush getting away with this (and all the parties) if he were leading this pathetic economy.
Must be nice.

Yes, I am quibbling; but, technically, I think this would be "mead" instead of "beer."
Smiling at your screen name in connection with this topic, ColdOne.

Only a Liberal can make a wussified “honey” beer.
Real men do not drink “honey beer”. Only sissified girly-men drink that stuff

Ok, now I've actually read the article and saw the beer bottle with the pic of the WH on it. They've made the WH look like Michigan's Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island.
But, I suppose it's slightly more classy than serving Colt 45 to WH guests.

This is actually pretty cool, and might help the craft brew and home brewing industries. There’s lots of reasons to criticize old jug ears, but this is not one of them. Wonder if it was any good.

I do not have a problem with this either. In fact, I encourage the President to do this kind of thing more often....yes entertain the guests like Warren Harding would had done.
