I think holding the door for the girl that you are having casual sex with is very romantic. It should shock no one to hear such irreverent "wisdom" escape the lips of Ashton Kutcher. The comment is from a recent promotional interview for his forthcoming romantic comedy No Strings Attached. In it, he stars opposite Natalie Portman as life-long platonic friends who drop the platonic without adding love or commitment.
The calling card of No Strings is its cavalier attitude toward casual sex, and how members of the opposite sex have precious few boundaries talking about or engaging in the practice of making love. This isnt The Philadelphia Story, where subtle references to sex were lightly bandied about by the likes of Cary Grant and Katharine Hepburn. Instead, screenwriter Elizabeth Meriweather talks frankly about physicality in the 21st century. The times have changed, you see. As Portman tells Entertainment Weekly, it's high time Hollywood's depictions of romance change as well.
"Ive always wanted to do [a romantic comedy]," says the newly pregnant star... But the girls are always in fashion, and its always about their clothes. They always want to get married at the end. Theres some kind of makeover scene. That stuff offends me(...)"Right about here is where you might expect a moralizing diatribe about the ongoing collapse of Western civilization. This is a conservative blog after all. However, let us consider a slightly more nuanced response....says Portmans producing partner, Annette Savitch. We want to do movies that are female driven, from a fresher perspective. So if its a comedy, its not just about women out to find husbands. I think thats really lacking today.

oh just charming.
Female driven?
Telling young women to go out and sleep around is “female driven?”
Gimme a break.
I like being single, but I don’t tomcat either. This is garbage.

We have rules. Can’t we do better than that picture?
Yikes. Did mean to post that twice
Sorry
That show looks Sleeee-zeeee!!! I make my 9-year-old cover her eyes when the previews come on {grrrr}. I hope it bombs!
Its the liberals with their 'nothings sacred' outlook. And yes, many conservatives are at fault here too. Many either happily slurp up the morally offensive slop, or say 'theres more important things to deal with'.
America's moral fabric is threadbare.
Best post of the thread...Bravo!
It wasn't so much "casual sex" as it was "just sex" with them. They still maintained the old fashioned "man's world/woman's world" social dichotmy. That way, somebody died or got "ruint" you just move in.
Not that the coal miners were into higher order philosophy, but lots of them were illiterate and looked at the Bible pretty much the same way Moslems look at the Koran ~ as a sacred and "magical" book, not to be read and studied, but just used to keep around for reading in case somebody ever learned to do that.
What is this ‘rules’ thing? Why does it come up whenever something like this is being commented upon?
“Gimme a break.”
You should take a break...
I think it was about 65 degrees in the room when that pic was taken.
This is what God says about that: 1 Corinthians 6:18 (New International Version, ©2010)
Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body.
