Just for fun, how about we stump each other with exotic or unusual airplane photos. Upload to Tinypic so no one can cheat by looking at the image source.

I know planes pretty well but that one has me stumped. It is obviously a WWII plane. Sort of looks like a cross between a Spitfire and a U.S. Navy Avenger.

That is an inline engine version of the P-47 Thunderbolt designated the XP-47H. It was a variant using a 16 cylinder Allison engine.

An XP-47H it is. A 2300 hp V-16 water cooled Chrysler engine (the first Hemi that Chrysler ever made, in fact), mated to the P-47 airframe. The bulge under the fuselage is the enormous radiator.
Too easy apparently.
