I am a Potterhead, or Pottermaniac, or whatever you want to call the illogical devotees to J.K. Rowling's books on the magical world of Harry Potter. And as such, we crazies have been devoted to the movies from the beginning.
But no movie in the series has been looked forward to like these last two, that will bring the Harry Potter saga to a close.
Deathly Hallows is a clear divergence from the rest of the series. Although each iteration of the Potter storyline gets darker and darker, Deathly Hallows magnifies that darkness geometrically. All the other movies, including the ever dark Order of the Phoenix and The Half-Blood Prince still took place at Hogwarts, with school surroundings that made the entire storyline just a little less deep. You still had the school age crushes, teenage angst, and of course, schoolwork to worry about.
No more. As the above poster shows...this is war. This is pure and unadulterated war, in all of its destructive elements.

Well, the WSJ didn’t like it, mostly because they didn’t understand this novel.
This is not a fun book, but it is about adulthood and of course, death.
The WSJ did not understood Kreacher and the attention devoted to him.
Thinking about, the other movies excluded Kreacher, even though he is used
To trach a valuable lesson “you sow what you reap”, along with “do unto
Others as you will others do to you”.
This a a final book to the saga and for at least the first movie,
there is little fun. It is about as fun as Vichy France.
I will pay my 2300 yen and see it within a week. :aving read the books, I

Yikes was planning on rain and Harry Potter with the kidos this weekend, is it ok for a 10 year old?

Both of you asked about the appropriateness for your 8 and 10 year olds, right?
My 16 year old and I went today, and while we both LOVED it, let me say that it is a very dark movie and some parts were extremely scary (at least to us).
There was one suggestive scene with Harry zipping up Ginny’s dress, and a very, very sensual scene that showed a hazy/fuzzy Harry and Hermione nude and wrapped up in a passionate embrace/kiss (we weren’t expecting that).
I’ll leave to both to make your own decisions as to whether it’s appropriate for your young kids/grandkids. Feel free to PM me if you need more details - I’ll try to help.
Otherwise, my absolute favorite HP movie to date, that’s for sure.
No, it is not. Much too dark and ominous. Take her to see Tangled this next weekend.
Still, I think they did a remarkably good job on this movie. I just wish that they wouldn't have had the "dance" scene in the tent. It was unnecessary, not in the book, and actually took away from the deep sadness that Hermione had in the book.

It did feel a bit out of place. But, on reflection, it was an OK way to show Harry stepping a bit out of character and trying to cheer Hermione up. He’s awkward that way. Sort of like the scene in 6 where they’re sitting on the stairs after Ron liplocks on Lavender.
