We need people like this all over to stand their ground in the face of leftist whiners like teachers unions.
Funding comes partly from the state budget and partly from the school district. The paycheck is local but the funding is joint. Maybe the state is paying for unneeded supplies and that money could be reallocated - who knows?
I love this man. I hope he runs for president one day; he has my vote.
ping for later
Me too, but you need to pay attention to him when he is interviewed or when he is speaking to a crowd. He is incredibly smart, knows his facts (without referring to a TelePrompTer or written remarks) and he tells it like it is, unafraid of hurting people with the truth.
I wish he were a national political leader but when he says he will not run for President, he will not run for President.
I actually trust what he says. THAT is amazing!
I like that in him and wish he would do it on more of the conservative issues we care for as well.
In other words - we want the truth.
That is a good situation, but hardly universal. In a lot of places the only funds raised are for sports boosters.
And the places where more help is needed are the places where parents are least involved.
It might be a ridiculous sob story in some places but hard reality in others.
Look, most don’t know their child’s teacher very well, in this fast lane world, and given the text book arguements there is a lack of trust in handing over precious cargo to socialist educators, so teachers start out suspect before the first bell. Who are they? Are they feminist, girl centered, no recess for the boys, cultural liberals or what?
Begging for fairness is legitimate, and I agree that teachers get a bad rap, but they must reveal themselves to parents, or recede into the classroom and their union will represent them. That’s not good. That’s bad. I hope you are a good teacher, and let it be known without bringing down the wrath of your union.
Oh absolutely. The unions are completely divorced from reality. Unfortunately, an individual teacher can't negotiate their own free market compensation package.
I don’t know of any occupations that don’t result in out of pocket expenses, with $500 seeming to me, a non union, no benefit tradesmen as but a ho-hum, minor deal.
Oh, I'm not a teacher -- I could not handle the bureaucracy. Or the salary.
My state technically does not have a union .... just Democrats running everything, which is usually just as bad.
Since he doesn’t want to be president, that’s all the more reason for him to be drafted into the position. If you read American history, George Washington did not want to be president and Harry Truman didn’t want the job either, but circumstances propelled each into office. Truman was a good president, Washington was a great president.
My late father always said, that the best presidents were those who really didn’t want the job, but answered the country’s call. I think he was absolutely right.
Sorry but I DO know what I’m talking about. I’ve spent my entire adul;t life being over taxed to pay for a public scholl system that does not work and employees teachers who aren’t qualified for entry level employment at my company. I don’t care who Christie attacks...it’s the individual union member teacher who enable the unions and union bosses who have destoyed the value of public education in this country.
Chris Christie pron... ohhhh baby... LOL!!!
Wait, he got a big welcome in YOUR town? And come on, you know how the news works.
Because, so far, no one is running for president. We can assume they are, but until they announce, they are not.
bump for later
That's pretty scary, you as a freeper fawning over any politician like he's one of the Founding fathers. You'd better check his stance on the Second Amendment, first. Do that then come back and tell us again, how great he is and how you think he should be the POTUS.
Sorry but your argument full of holes it is laughable.
My point is this - teachers that I know are pretty well compensated when you include all forms of compensation. To pay for a few supplies when you are pretty much promised a job for life (ever try to fire a teacher?), always get the nod in funding your raises from state government and almost never have to pay anything into the system that pays your benefits is a pretty good gig.
No, you cannot take your health card to the grocery store. But you can pay for more groceries with the healthcare savings they receive year after year after year...
BTW - I am paid based on my production. Hardly a socialist outlook. Are teachers paid on their production? Congrats to you for making an illogical argument.
Now, that being said, are there good teachers? Absolutely! My complaint is with those teachers who do next to nothing yet scream about their supposed lack of benefits every chance they get.
We in MIchigan were very fortunite to have John Engler in the early 90,s. He stuffed the MEA real good in his first term. think about it. We are paying tax payer dollars to fund a Democratic Union. It sucks.
