LOL. Guess he ain’t doing such a great job, even in the Garden State.
It has been a long time since I heard and seen a public servant who was this direct, not rude just direct.
Very impressive video.
The teacher was “schooled” but I have to think she probably flunked the Christie reality 101.
Ping for later
You could add Hannity to it.
This is so true. Finally a governor who isn't afraid of the teacher's union! Governor Whitman started off good, but then caved under the NJEA heel.
The NJEA is very powerful and is used to getting their own way. Kudos to Christie for standing up to them.
That's called a "Jennyass". Really. Or maybe just a "jenny."
Cry me a freakin’ river! Public school teachers are among the most over payed, over pampered, under producing meritless parasites in the country. No other enterprise in the history of civilization has had so much undeserved tax payer money thrown at it for such dismal results as public education in the USA! If a teacher can’t afford to live on what they’re making let them get a real job that requires a full day’s work...12 months a year.
Let's give the teachers union a choice: the state will provide an additional $500 a year per teacher for school supplies but teachers will have to accept ordinary health plans similar to the plans the rest of us have. Or, teachers may keep their current Cadillac health plans and not receive an additional $500 a year for school supplies.
Of course, the teacher's union will respond, "We want BOTH." That's exactly the point Gov Christie was making.
I loved the way he said that he had listened to her politely and he expected the same from her. Then he asked her, point blank — ‘Will you agree to these terms?’ hardihar. and she had to answer in front of everyone. priceless.
Christie had no reason to answer that point. The teacher doesn’t work for the State of New Jersey — she works for her local school district. If she has a problem paying out of her pocket for school expenses, she should take that up with her school principal and/or her local school board.
Why do they do that? If extra supplies are needed, then the PTA needs to step up. Should be able to go hat in hand to local businesses. A little thinking outside the box could easily solve that.
OK, so once the society changed so that young, bright females could become doctors and lawyers, they stopped becoming nurses and teachers in such great numbers and became professionals. The quality of teacher has plummeted ever since.
Christie is also a lawyer, but what sets him apart is that his background is in the Federal prosecutor's office. You don't get rich doing that kind of work in the legal profession, but you sure know how to beat the snot (proverbially, of course) out of some hack public shcool teacher who whines to you about how hard her life is.
“Christie has been spectacular against the teachers unions. Flat out awesome......- I am just not convinced hes a solid Conservative in other matters.”
Christie can come through on immigration in some helpful manner, even if he is against the expense and nightmare practicallity of rounding up human beings and dumping them all in Juarez in the middle of a gun battle.
We conservatives are feeling our oats, because Obama is so marxist that we have won over the independents, and if we get too persnickity we lose the independents and go right back to a minority. The meat and potato issues are making the difference. Sadly, as a country, we remain pretty Godless and vote that way on important social issues. By the Grace of God for healing in our land, we sorrowfully pray.
Gov.Christie at his best. Watched firsthand at the local Labor Day parade how well he was welcomed (even got to shake his hand), but the one person who yelled something was the only thing that got news coverage..
You have no idea what you're talking about.
You must be extremely ignorant. Have you ever seen a public school, like, maybe on TV?
You do know that it's common for an excellent teacher to be paid half or less of what a terrible teacher makes?
Does that make sense to you?
There are many teachers who are overpaid and don't produce. There are many teachers who are underpaid and extremely effective.
It's a messed up compensation system. And you're going to blame individual teachers for that and attack them all!? You should listen to Chris Christie a bit more. Who does he blame? The union leaders. Don't just attack all teachers. How ignorant can you be?
Yes, teachers know the deal when they get into it. But that doesn't make the system any less dumb.
You do know that it’s common for an excellent teacher to be paid half or less of what a terrible teacher makes?
Does that make sense to you?
Ah... the joys of union membership!
