I am hopping mad right now because our side is winning, and yet all of them are afraid of the Republican so-called "backlash" in the September election. Basically, President Obama forced GM to make the Chevy Volt, which is great. This car gets something like 40 miles on a single charge, and only uses gasoline if you have some capitalist need to go out of your local community. So it FORCES people to conserve more, which is great for the environment, and good for everyone. Its incredible. Personally, they needed to lose the stupid gas tank, but again, our side caved to the special interests. Anyway, the car costs $40,000, which isn't that much if EVERYONE is paying it (after all, if everyone can jump 10 feet in the air, rather than about 3 feet, then people wouldn't be surprised at all - 10 feet would seem like it was 'normal').

There was once upon a time a car called the Chevy Sprint, 3 cylinder car, got great gas millage, 8 gal tank. BUT you could only use High Test gas or it fouled the carburetor, it was even picky about the brand used, no cutrates only name brand. Yes, I’m sure of that fact after having to have the carb cleaned twice. 4 passenger. Great little get around car, beat you to death on a long distance drive. We could go 350 miles and still have a 1/4th of a tank left.
I think I will start to call it the “Voltswagen”.
It’s re-Volting!
Best in your face statement!
...Have you posted this picture on a Catholic Caucus thread?
;)
Haha, that’s rich :) You know, my wife and I both bought VW’s - and have had nothing but issues with it. Mostly electrical. In her case, the headlights keep going out, only to have them suddenly start working when the mechanics go to look at it. This has happened like 6 times. In my case, the engine light’s always on - until they have a look at it, after which it stays off for a few weeks.

Ah, thanks for that. I thought the Volt was a strictly battery car. So it’s a plug-in hybrid?
Lol! A plugin hybrid towing a 3200 Watt gas generator would be a sight to see!
That’s brilliant - wish I’d thought of it :)
Maybe it should have said "Meus Volt!" -- I don't think the One gives much thought about Deus.
It does more for the environment than any new green projects will ever do.....and its fun....
I owned a Daihatsu Charade for 130,000 miles. It was also three cyclinder and got about 40 mpg on the freeway. I liked it, it was fun to drive. Sure glad I never got into an accident with it though.
Well, not maybe the Catholic caucus threads... but it would sure be of value in the theology-debate threads [namely “sola scriptura”] wherein some Catholics argue the equality [or supremacy] of the Catholic Church’s “Holy Tradition” to that of scripture; particularly when the subject edges towards Papal Infallibility.
{Some things that DO bug me about Catholic Theology: Prayer _TO_ Saints, the Perpetual Virginity of Mary [Mother of Jesus], and Papal Infallibility.}
Keeping an older car in great shape is not what the auto unions want you to do......Just keep buying whatever crap they produce every four years.....
As a taxpayer, I've already paid for it, I'm waiting on delivery.
No, the Leaf is pure electric — so the issue would be a pure electric towing a generator.
The generators are generally a lot more than 3.2kW — they’re more like 12-15kW. 3.2kW won’t power a car at highway speeds.
Hybrids absolutely can tow. Electric motors can be amazingly powerful for their size (remember that freight trains are basically diesel hybrids minus the battery pack — it’s electric motors that turn those wheels). But the vehicle still has to be designed to tow, and the Leaf isn’t (as far as I am aware).

40 miles is rated for with a number of accessory loads (they haven’t disclosed which ones, only that it’s “several”). AC is not one of them. AC typically cuts an EV’s range 15-35%, not in half.
Either that or there's many like me who love our old rides and enjoy thumbin' the ""buy new throw away crowd.""
