This is just plain nuts. Lt. Col. Terry Lakin, a highly-decorated Army surgeon, with 18-years of service behind him, is willingly throwing his career and reputation away, because be believes in the birther conspiracy nonsense that President Obama is not a natural born citizen. The Army has instituted court martial proceedings against him for refusing to obey deployment orders to Afghanistan, which Lakin says are illegal orders from an illegal alien. The birther doctor appeared on CNN’s Anderson Cooper’s 360 program Friday evening with his lawyer. And the interview soon turn heated, as Cooper attempted to inject some fact-based reality into the conversation.
Lakin’s lawyer Paul Jensen, obtained by the birther conspiracy groups American Patriot Foundation/Safeguard Our Constitution, continually jumped in to answer Cooper’s questions posed to Lakin. The basis of Jensen’s arguments all center on his rejection of Obama’s Certificate of Live birth issued by the state of Hawaii. He contends it’s not proof of Obama’s birth in the United States, because it’s merely an “abstract” of the original document on file. Lakin through his lawyer, is demanding to see the original document.
Jensen couldn’t explain Obama’s two birth notices in local Hawaii newspapers. And he refuses to accept the determination made by the Republican governor of Hawaii, who examined the original birth certificate on file, declaring it valid.
Despite all of the evidence to the contrary, Jensen falsely declared there was “mounting evidence” that Obama is an illegal alien.
When Cooper asked Lakin if he believes that all members of the military from Hawaii are also illegal aliens and not eligible to serve, he mumbled something about the President being required to be a “natural born citizen”
After Jensen continued to jump in with his birther conspiracy theories, Cooper asked: “Can the colonel not talk for himself? The guy’s an adult.”
Finally, Lakin offered a general response, explaining why he is subjecting himself to a court martial:
“It’s a fundamental of the Constitution, and my oath of office is to the Constitution, and I believe we need truth on this matter.”
The remainder of the interview is being shown tonight. What a truly sad and pathetic spectacle.

And at his court martial he will have a chance to show why the order of his brigade commander wasn't lawful. How's he going to do that?
Obama could hand deliver a gold plated long form birth certificate tomorrow and it would make no difference in the outcome of this case. Conversely, proof could be delivered tomorrow that Obama was born in Kenya and it would not make any difference in the outcome of this case. LCOL Lakin has been charged with missing movement and disobeying the orders of his brigade commander. He is guilty of both.
I don’t know if he can just resign but, if he believes he serves and illegitimate commander, this would be his only recourse to examine Barry’s life.
Patriotic to some, loser to others but we aren’t in his position.

Clearly, the birth cert issue is a most toxic one for the affirmative action fraud-in-chief since his secret sycophancy would be so blatant in their use of Alinsky tactics at FreeRepublic, given the exposure Rules For Radicals has gotten here.

I would like to think that he is smart enough to know that he wasn’t going to win this one. Sadly, he’s probably just going to fade away in forced retirement or resign, when he could have just done his job.

Since Obama refuses to verify, we have no reason to trust him on this subject. And anyone who does is just plain foolish.

I’m saying it’s foolish and irresponsible to trust Obama on this subject if he refuses to verify. That shouldn’t be hard for anyone to understand.
