United States Customs seized 30 M4 look alike Airsoft rifles, pictured left, in Tacoma. The Feds claim they can be easily be converted to actually shoot full automatic with live ammunition. BATFE says that parts could be switched out quickly to allow them to fire live ammunition. This is sure to cause huge differences of opinion over whether the Airsoft gun can actually be easily converted to actually fire 5.56mm ammunition on full automatic.
These toy rifles look like M4s. They do not have the bright orange tips to show they are toys. BATFE Agents say that they feel like and weigh approximately the same as a real M4. They apparently have been available for sale in the USA under the brand name TTI M4 CQBR (WE Tech) Gas Blow Back Airsoft Rifle.
The seized toy guns were labeled as Toys and Parts and came from a Taiwan manufacturer. They were designed to shoot Airsoft pellets and had no serial numbers. Of course, toys normally dont have them. They do look very realistic and they accept detachable Airsoft M4 lookalike magazines, and the user can load the toy with Airsoft pellets.
The government claims that the shipment arrived without the proper shipping documents. They entered the country in October, and there has been an ongoing investigation.
Heres the sales ad product description for the Toy Rifle that sells for about $400.00 in the USA.

I’m sure that whomever I stole it from is very flattered.
TOTally cool graphic, Slings! And I agree.
In other news today, BAFTA researchers have discovered that is it possible to embed weapons in violin cases. BAFTA is in the process of alerting all concert halls and opera houses and it is suggested that they screen all performance artists and violinists for previous felonies and substance abuse. It is not known what the impact will be to music schools and classes, as upcoming students will potentially be evaluated for religious beliefs, military indoctrination and psychotherapy.
BAFTA officials have not commented on their decision regarding women’s purses and explosives.
The designs don’t allow for cartridges. These people are completely stupid along with truly evil.
You’ll put your eye out!!
If the dimensions line up, pop the pins, slap on a 16" M4 upper, load a mag, and you are off to Happy Land.
I would PAY to see the video of an ATF agent shooting live 5.56mm ammo through a plastic toy gun! He/she won’t do it more then once!
I have heard that they have banned potato mortars...I guess automatic nail guns are next, then maybe automobile tires - they have the word auto in it and they sometimes go BANG, sounds like a gun shot, when they puncture...
Spiff
Most of these airsoft guns aren’t just plastic. I have an MP5 that is pretty much all metal with plastic furniture. Ounce for ounce the same weight as a real MP5.
Those AFT jokers are reaallly brilliant on that claim!!
I’ll show up as the official observer and post the results. Free!
It sounds like the ATF has found a way to ban all firearms.”
That is probably what they are working towards.
Get the public to believe toys can be converted into guns and they have won half the battle.
The difference between men and boys is the cost of their toys.
These are still toys, or training simulators at best. They are not weapons or arms.
All three of them? All from the explosives branch most likely.
Actual enforcement of the alcohol tax and trade laws remained with Treasury when BATFE moved to Justice in 2003, pursuant to the Homeland Security Act.
I never knew this about Reagan. Thanks for sharing! As several posters have said, throw away the ATF, and roll the explosives unit into the FBI. Makes sense to me — too much sense for the government! LOL
Not one made since 1986. It was part of the Reagan era Fire Arm Owners Protection Act.
It's also part of 18 USC 922 section (o), which reads:
(o)
(1) Except as provided in paragraph (2), it shall be unlawful for any person to transfer or possess a machinegun.
(2) This subsection does not apply with respect to
(A) a transfer to or by, or possession by or under the authority of, the United States or any department or agency thereof or a State, or a department, agency, or political subdivision thereof; or
(B) any lawful transfer or lawful possession of a machinegun that was lawfully possessed before the date this subsection takes effect.
The notes indicate that the date this subsection takes effect, referred to in subsec. (o)(2)(B), as May 19, 1986,
The FOPA was in general a Good Thing, it repealed many of the provisions of the Gun Control Act of 1968, such as the ban on mail order ammunition, having to sign for all "handgun" ammunition, etc. and it (temporarily as it turned out) reigned in the BATF.
Not those. They are the favorite weapon of African "leftists".
Look up "necklacing".
The main problem was that the FBI didn't want them. Nor did any other federal "Law Enforcement" agency.
I'd go a little further: I would put all government agents on notice that all prior violations of people's civil rights would be prosecuted if they were unlawful at the time they were committed, regardless of whether the agents expected anyone to care. I would allow agents a deal: with certain exceptions, they could be moved to the bottom of the priority list for prosecution provided they signed and notarized agreements indicating that if they ever worked in any position where they would have discretionary authority over a private citizen, or over a government agent who did have such authority, they would wave any statute of limitations relative to their crimes. Much as I'd like to see most of the crooks in government rot in prison, just getting them out of government would be 99% better than leaving them in.
Wasn't that also called McClure-Volkmer? Or something like that? Also I discovered a sorta sneaky way around the post 1986 production ban. Kinda. Sorta. I found some Class III H&K MP5's had been made originally in semi auto but later retrofitted with 1986 or before full auto SEARS to convert them to that status. 99% of the weapon is brand new but the only part actually subject to the control is that which creates the class III condition: The full auto SEAR. Perfectly legal as it happens. Doesn't matter to me. I still can't afford even that level of full auto fire. Less than $30K but still formidable to me.
