Wasn't that also called McClure-Volkmer? Or something like that? Also I discovered a sorta sneaky way around the post 1986 production ban. Kinda. Sorta. I found some Class III H&K MP5's had been made originally in semi auto but later retrofitted with 1986 or before full auto SEARS to convert them to that status. 99% of the weapon is brand new but the only part actually subject to the control is that which creates the class III condition: The full auto SEAR. Perfectly legal as it happens. Doesn't matter to me. I still can't afford even that level of full auto fire. Less than $30K but still formidable to me.

Yes, FOPA was also known as McClure-Volkmer. The machine gun provision was a last minute amendment, and was so poorly written that if it was not enforced "as intended" rather than as written, it would have no affect at all.
