Texas Gubernatorial candidate Debra Medina spoke to an enthusiastic Kingwood Tea Party crowd in far-northeast Houston Saturday interested in hearing her plans to reform the Lone Star State. Medina made no reference about her Glenn Beck interview. However, the 20 or so random people with whom this reporter spoke before and after her speech seemed to accept Medinas follow-up response released by her campaign a couple of hours after the Thursday morning radio interview. As Char with Texans for Nullification Today said, If you go back and look at the radio transcript, when Glenn asked if she believed the government was involved in bringing down the World Trade Centers, Medinas first two words were, I dont. If shes guilty of anything, its for being verbose and not using a teleprompter. The Tea Partiers seemed to be far more concerned about the possibility of having to elect the lesser of two evils, incumbent Gov. Rick Perry or Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, as the next state Governor. Medina pounded on hot button topics such as Perrys support of the mandatory HPV vaccination, the Trans Texas Corridor and his support of state college tuition rates for illegal immigrants, as well as Hutchisons support of the Federal Bailouts, Amnesty for illegal immigrants and pro-abortion rights. State Sovereignty was a reoccurring theme in Medinas speech. Many of you stand with me in saying enough is enough. Weve had enough tyranny and corruption from our federal government, she said. From refusing to recognize Roe v Wade in Texas, to keeping the EPA off the backs of Texans, Medina was emphatic in her refusal to allow illegal Federal actions if she were governor. Although Medina said she would be willing to support a Texas Resolution declaring State Sovereignty, she said she didnt see the need to do so, as Texas currently has the right under the Tenth Amendment now a governor with the courage to stand up and say no to the Federal government is all thats needed.
Illegal immigration was another topic that met the approval of the Tea Party crowd. When you cross the Texas border, youre on private property. You are welcome to our state, but you need to go through the gate, not the river. She indicated that because the Federal government is not meeting its obligation to properly enforcing the international border, she would be compelled to communicate her intensions to the Mexican government, while building up and eventually deploying the Texas National Guard to seal the Texas-Mexico border. Medinas passion on Gun Rights and a balanced Budget resonated with the Tea Partiers, as she pointed out the record of opponents Perry and Hutchison. We need to elect citizen leaders, not more of the status quo, she said. As Texas is currently $33 billion in debt, triple of what Perry inherited when he first took office, it would take until 2047 to pay that debt off. At the state and federal level, government must end its insatiable appetite to spend our childrens money. |
Paulbots think the Federal Government is Nutty and Dangerous. They also hate Federal Programs that are not Constitutional.
Heh. I wish Michael Williams had run for Governor. Perry has been in too long and has been a substantial disappointment, KBH is a Potomac RINO and has also been in the Senate way too long, Medina is a kook. We’ve got an embarrassment of riches in a Conservative GOP farm team, and Perry and KBH are blocking the newer and better from moving up. This race was a perfect opening for an alternate choice, and we just didn’t get one who was viable.
Southerner’s simultaneously, are the most patriotic people in America, we man their/our military and we distrust the government the most, all at the same time.
It is some kind of “Southern thing”, we don’t think that we Americans plot mass murder against each other though, and we did not do 9/11.
The South is rising again.
I totally agree with you. I heard her interview with Beck and I was stunned by her response to the 9-11 questions.
Medina stated: “As Texas is currently $33 billion in debt, triple of what Perry inherited when he first took office, it would take until 2047 to pay that debt off.”
Must consider that this happened in Houston, which is probably the #2 most liberal/progressive city in Texas behind Austin.
Her talking points (and often KBH’s as well) also always include accusing Perry of things he may have proposed at times that never happened. The TTC didn’t happen, injections for young teen girls didn’t happen, etc.
No rationally thinking conservative Texan would want this Paulbot as Governor. She’s a nurse who latched onto a more efficient way to process medical insurance filings and started a small business to do that. In most companies, such ideas are considered items for the suggestion box so I’ll give her credit for being innovative. ....That’s much different from being the Governor of Texas.
Liberals voted for a polidiot celebrity with no political record of experience an put BHO in the WH. .
Why are we trying to make same mistake ?
No proven record of conservatism in a lower office. No vote from me.
Medina getting this far is not for something for us Texans to be particularly proud. She is a card carrying kook with absolutely no credentials to hold any office, let alone the one she is vying for. KBH’s primary message is one of deception whereas Perry’s message is very simple...Texas is in good shape, why would anyone want to change in these troubling times. I agree. Rick Perry for Governor for another 4 years.
In trying to avoid disparaging remarks she has backed herself into a corner. She now has to show some political skill and get herself out. There are too many here making more out of this than it deserves. She made a gaff. As I recall the occupant of the white house belongs to a party that questioned “what did Bush know and when did he know it” Hillary Clinton held up a newspaper that said “Bush Knew”.In the end all Debra Medina said was there are questions out there in a foolish attempt to appear balanced on a stupid conspiracy theory.
FR is educational if all can be civil an just do their research be they pro or con on an issue.
Stay Safe. !
I too heard the interview, I thought it was one of Glenns
joke segments at first ... dang SHE is the only one
that can take credit for the terrible response. When asked
a pointed question the immediate response is the true thinking.
I don’t agree with or believe in Do-Overs...
Agree. Snake oil shit’n shineola celebrities need not apply.
Their handlers are polidiot profiteers.
“Paulbots do not trust the Federal Government. At all.”
I am not a Paulbot and I don’t trust the Federal, or any, government. I’m in good company because George Washington did not trust government.
That’s why it’s important to limit it.
What a misleading story this is....The first two words aren’t enough! YOu need the whole sentence.
She won’t get a penny from me.
Thanks for the post. Medina’s not a Truther, but facts don’t matter to the Perry trolls.
The libs would tear her to pieces.
She just isn't a good campaigner as she can't keep her thoughts organized.
They couldn't put Humpty Dumpty back together again and it won't work with her either.
Unbelievable. I need some kind of Zombie repellent.
> No proven record of conservatism in a lower office. No vote from me. Perry's been a politician since 1984 when he was first elected to the Texas House of Representatives from a district in Haskell County, near the panhandle. Hutchison’s been a politician since 1972 when she was first elected to the Texas House of Representatives from a district in Houston. By contrast, Medina is a small-business owner from Wharton with NO background in politics (much like Doug Hoffman in NY-23), but is a Pro-Life Conservative who cares deeply about restoring Texas State Sovereignty with the Federal government, securing the Border, protecting the 2nd Amendment rights of Texans and restoring lower taxes to eliminate the $33 billion Texas debt.
Please tell me how Perry's and Hutchison's record as being lifelong RINO politicians has been working in the best interest of Texas.

... hmmm, a small biz innovator and owner is unqualified... BUT let’s reelect AL GORE’S campaign manager in TX in 2000! Yeah, that’s the ticket... that’s the conservative choice!!
YEAH RIGHT, we can over look TTC cause they didn’t quite ram it thru... that’s like supporting zer0 cause he didn’t quite ram thru healthcare, ah no prob!? right?? COME ON PEOPLE - WAKE UP AND SMELL THE ONE WORLD RINOS... good grief has everyone lost their common sense...
