PAT ROBERTSON: HAITI SURRENDERED TO SATAN AND SO IS CURSED
TruthInConviction ^ | Jan 13 | J. Grant Swank, Jr.

If our nation continues to turn its face against God, it will pay severely with divine curses.

There is an obvious, pressing need for a spiritual revival to engulf America; only then will divine blessings return to this country.

Anyone who’d call me a “dope” for suggesting that now is neither the time nor place to say that Haiti — having just suffered a devastating earthquake — was cursed by God for surrendering to Satan is someone whose esteem I DO NOT want. Goodbye! May you and Pat soon be together.

It just so happens that I was already scheduled (before the Haiti earthquake) to speak on the radio TODAY, at 5:00 Central, concerning Pat Robertson's "prophecies." You can listen live by going here: kfuoam.org

We live in a broken world where bad things happen to good people.

Considering the tremendous suffering, saying something like this is just plain ol wrong timing and maybe just a touch of classless insensitivity.

Pat, how bout NOT chiming in, huh, whadya say.

Then following the same logic....People who die in floods, tornadoes, car wrecks, cancer, train wrecks and so on are also cursed by God.

Robertson said that very thing about New Orleans shortly after Katrina flooded the place. Of course, he missed the part about the French Quarter (downtown Gomorrah) being practically untouched, aside from some slight wind damage to roofs. Yeah, that part wasn't so easy to explain, was it, Pat?

I see now that you’ve completely misread what I typed. I was responding to Pat Robertson; it is my view that he is wrong to say such a terribly condemnatory thing about Haiti right now instead of offering to help.

For this, you call me a dope.

Whether you misread me or not, I don’t care to know you or respond to your pings, so unless you apologize unreservedly, just shut the hell up.

Now is not the time or place? Please tell us, when is the time or place to say that Haitians are dying today because somebody “made a pact with the devil” 200 years ago. I’d really like to hear when and where you think this hatred is acceptable to say.

So we both think Robertson shouldn’t have said it here and now.

Yet you, ass, go out of your way to insult me because my locution leaves room for the possibility that such a theological view might somehow be acceptable years later, in some sort of academic conference? (Which I suppose it could, as one point of view.)

Please STFU.

You're showing remarkable patience wtc, honestly.

It takes the SUPREMEST form arrogance to presume to speak for the Almighty. Robertson has NO IDEA what God is thinking, so he should really just shut his trap and pray for the victims. The Book of Job and Crucifixion of Christ show perfectly that tragedy can strike the Holiest among us. True Christians do not presume that tragedy necessarily comes from sin. Satan and his minions often attack believers with more vigor than nonbelievers.

I take it you are not a Christian and do not believe in the Bible as being the authoritative Word of God. People thought the same thing of Jeremiah the prophet when he preached and warned of the impending doom upon Israel because they had estranged themselves from God and His precepts. All this Pat Robertson bashing is baffling to me. I was saved in 1984 through a ministry called Teen Challenge founded in 1958 by pastor David Wilkerson. If you think that Pat Robertson's words are arrogant, you would be completely apoplectic if you read some of David Wilkerson's books and newsletters. Was Jeremiah "arrogant" when he DID SPEAK for the ALMIGHTY? You seem to use the Holy Scripture only when it fits your preconceived ideas and philosphies. Yes, you are correct in saying that tragedy can strike the Holiest among us, but God does judge the unholy also. Remember Elijah and the 450 prophets of Baal. Haiti is a nation that dominated by witchcraft, voodoo and all forms of Satanic worship. I don't believe that Robertson is being far-fetched in his assessment of God's judgement upon Haiti. SnakeDoc

Oh, for Pete’s sake....

Robertson has to run his mouth every time there’s a disaster of some kind to say that SOMEONE did SOMETHING to honk off God.

I can understand why some people say “Lord, please save me...from your followers!”...and I AM a Christian.

Shut up, Pat...just shut up.

If we in the USA start to experience these calamities God forbid perhaps old Pat may be on to something here. Our nation in general has turned its back on the Almighty.

Pat Robertson is an idiot, and I'm certainly not one to believe in superstitious explanations for a scientifically known natural disaster. That said...

...Haiti, and particularly its government, does seem to have an inordinately large number of tragedies in its history. Consider the now-famous pictures of presidential palace that collapsed yesterday. Would you believe that this is not the first time it's been destroyed in a violent disaster, but the FOURTH? It was built in 1918 after three of its predecessors met similar ends:

- The third was destroyed in 1915 by an attacking army (one of the events that brought about the U.S. occupation of Haiti from 1915-34)

- The second exploded in 1912, killing the military-dictator president and over 300 troops inside. They were storing gunpowder in the basement.

- The first one was burned down in a revolution in 1869. The president at the time was executed by firing squad on the front lawn with the smoldering ashes behind him.

Other facts about Haiti:

- It gained independence in 1804, but did not have a leader who successfully completed a full term in office until 1874!

- Only 9 out of 40-something presidents of Haiti have completed their terms in office (and that includes interim presidents who finished out the stint of a deposed predecessor). 4 of those 9 were during the U.S. occupation of 1915-34

- 3 Haitian presidents were assassinated in office (maybe 4, according to rumors that the gunpowder explosion in 1912 was not an accident). Another committed suicide rather than surrender to a lynch mob outside.

- Another 23 Haitian presidents were forcibly overthrown but survived or went into exile.

- The first overthrow was also against the country's first president in 1806 after he proclaimed himself emperor for life. The most recent was in 2004 against Aristide.

They're sort of a magnet for disasters, and yesterday's was simply the latest in a VERY long chain.

Proverbs 1: 22-33

22How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge?

23Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you.

24Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded;

25But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof:

26 I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh;

27When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you.

28Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me:

29 For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD:

30They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof.

31Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices.

32For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them.

33But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.

That nutty old fart Pat Robinson should have his mouth duct-taped permanently.

Most religious people are praying hard and asking what they can do for Haiti.

Most humanitarians are already on their way to search, rescue, help and heal.

All that senile old braggart can do is manufacture idiotic curses on a whole nation.

Isn’t it time for the Lord to call him home?

So Pat believes our God is a cruel God that punished entire nations. I will have to disagree. Christ died for our sins to be forgiven. Just my opinion.

And in 1875, they finally stopped electing the ancestors of Spinal Tap drummers

I don't see this nation (the USA) repenting of its sins as a nation, like we see in what Abraham Lincoln said and understood back in 1863. He understood what God did with nations.

I find that here on Free Republic, many don't believe that God deals with nations like this (as we see from what Abraham Lincoln said and understood). Many don't believe there is any judgment from God coming upon this nation...

Well, we'll see, as we have already seen from the judgment we've already received in the form of President Obama...

Proclamation - Appointing a National Fast-Day
March 30, 1863

BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
A PROCLAMATION

Whereas the Senate of the United States, devoutly recognizing the supreme authority and just government of Almighty God in all the affairs of men and of nations, has by a resolution requested the President to designate and set apart a day for national prayer and humiliation; and

Whereas it is the duty of nations as well as of men to own their dependence upon the overruling power of God, to confess their sins and transgressions in humble sorrow, yet with assured hope that genuine repentance will lead to mercy and pardon, and to recognize the sublime truth, announced in the Holy Scriptures and proven by all history, that those nations only are blessed whose God is the Lord;

And, insomuch as we know that by His divine law nations, like individuals, are subjected to punishments and chastisements in this world, may we not justly fear that the awful calamity of civil war which now desolates the land may be but a punishment inflicted upon us for our presumptuous sins, to the needful end of our national reformation as a whole people? We have been the recipients of the choicest bounties of Heaven; we have been preserved these many years in peace and prosperity; we have grown in numbers, wealth, and power as no other nation has ever grown. But we have forgotten God. We have forgotten the gracious hand which preserved us in peace and multiplied and enriched and strengthened us, and we have vainly imagined, in the deceitfulness of our hearts, that all these blessings were produced by some superior wisdom and virtue of our own. Intoxicated with unbroken success, we have become too self-sufficient to feel the necessity of redeeming and preserving grace, too proud to pray to the God that made us.

It behooves us, then, to humble ourselves before the offended Power. to confess our national sins, and to pray for clemency and forgiveness.

Now, therefore, in compliance with the request, and fully concurring in the views of the Senate, I do by this my proclamation designate and set apart Thursday, the 30th day of April, 1863, as a day of national humiliation, fasting, and prayer. And I do hereby request all the people to abstain on that day from their ordinary secular pursuits, and to unite at their several places of public worship and their respective homes in keeping the day holy to the Lord and devoted to the humble discharge of the religious duties proper to that solemn occasion.

All this being done in sincerity and truth, let us then rest humbly in the hope authorized by the divine teachings that the united cry of the nation will be heard on high and answered with blessings no less than the pardon of our national sins and the restoration of our now divided and suffering country to its former happy condition of unity and peace. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the United States to be affixed.

Done at the city of Washington, this 30th day of March, A. D. 1863, and of the Independence of the United States the eighty-seventh.

ABRAHAM LINCOLN.

By the President:

WILLIAM H. SEWARD, Secretary of State .
