You're Fired! An Open Letter to All of the US Congress.
Reality Check ^ | 28-Dec-2009 | Rick Donaldson

Posted on 12/30/2009 11:02:30 AM PST by Rick.Donaldson

Ladies and Gentlemen,

The time has come for you to realize that the United States of America is made up of individuals who believe in Liberty, Freedom and Justice. It’s time those of you we asked to do a job, did that job.

Your job is not to tell ME how to behave, how to act, how to give my own money for others. If I want to give my money for a charitable cause I will do so on my own, without prompting.

It’s NOT your job to tell me how much gasoline to use, or electricity. If I want to drive an SUV across country, or fly on a private jet, I will. I do not and WILL NOT pay for an imaginary Carbon Foot Print. I REFUSE.

It isn’t your job to tell me whether I should or shouldn’t have health care. I don’t need to pay for someone else’s health care either. I’m in good shape. I take care of myself. I exercise, and I have a job and I have health insurance through my company. It is perfectly acceptable to myself and my family. Why do you want to change what I find acceptable? The right answer isn’t “Because others don’t find it acceptable”. Remember, I AM an American and an Individual! Others need to do for themselves what I have done for MYSELF and leave me alone.

It’s not your job to tell the Military how to act. It isn’t your job to cut military pay, to remove benefits or to stop our military from doing their jobs. I am a former military member, now retired. I don’t even get to draw my pay until I’m 60 thanks to the likes of you folks. Our retiree benefits have gone down the tubes over the years, a little here, a little there until we have practically nothing left. Military retirees have to pay for their medical care. Tell me, how much do YOU pay for yours?

Military members recently have been charged with crimes for simply doing their jobs. What kind of nonsense is that?

What I think you Ladies and Gentlemen have failed to realize in your zealotry to push this country into a view that is acceptable to yourselves that the view you see is unacceptable to most Americans. In fact, the majority of Americans might have so many different points of views that none of us are on the same team.

But, that doesn’t mean that YOU men and women of Congress should strive to make us all alike.

In fact, it is deplorable of you.

Congress lies. This is unacceptable.

Congress cheats. This is unacceptable

Congress steals from the people of this country. This is unacceptable.

Congress has tried and is trying at this very moment to usurp the Rights of Americans. Those Rights include the Right to keep and Bear Arms, the Right to Freedom of Speech, the Right to be free of search and seizure for no reason. This is unacceptable.

Congress has helped create and fund organizations like ACORN to help to cheat Americans by putting them in charge of the Census. This is unacceptable.

Congress has freely given our monies to FAILING companies - which are denigrated and hated by most on the Left anyway as ‘evil corporations’ and yet, hypocritically Congress gives those failing companies MY MONEY. This is unacceptable.

Congress has created with the help of the President a MASSIVE deficit that will force my Great-Grand Children to pay and pay and pay. This is unacceptable.

Congress continues to operate outside the laws they make for the People of this Country. They don’t see themselves as having to have the same rules applied, as in the case of health care, or pensions as the rest of Americans. This is unacceptable.

Congress has, in short, forgotten their original purpose, reason and the rules of the road. The people in Congress have gone there with an “Entitlement Attitude” when they are not entitled to anything. Congress has, in short, decided they are entitled - and American People are not. This is unacceptable.

Congress has forced Americans to begin to revolt - this was probably exactly what many of them wanted so now you have it. Americans are tired of being treated like second and third class citizens, ignored, despised by Congress members, denigrated for protesting, investigated if they question authority.

America is in the midst of an uprising.

What Congress has failed to realize is that we don’t run around with guns killing people like they do in third world countries. We stopped doing that with the Civil War. What we do, is we fire people. We remove them from office.

Congress - you are FIRED. Not one of you, most of you, if not all of you are going to be changed out. Especially the Marxists, those who support such ideals as Marxism and Socialism.

Congress - You are fired. Pack up and be prepared to leave and go back to your home towns. You are about to be removed from office, and we won’t have to have a Second American Revolution to do it.

The shots you will hear will be the sounds of people slapping down the voting switches on voting machines, snapping their pencils and pens down after filling in the voting card, and the shouts of JOY at seeing so many of you people being removed from office.

And some of us will be pushing to have your pensions removed to save money too…. we won’t forget that you cheated Americans and you will pay for it out of your own pockets.

I've had it with Congress. I've had it with people telling me how to act, behave, how much to pay for others', when to give, when to shut up, when to bend over be taxed some more. I'm tired of them telling America "You have to have health insurance" (when I ALREADY have it). I'm tired of Congress believing they are better than me.

It's time to fire them all.

Go to the polls and VOTE THEM OUT. ANYONE else running against your congress critter is fair game.

OUT with the OLD, in with the NEW. Send a message. Don't keep ANY OF THEM!

This should be nailed to the entrance to Congress and the Senate, just like Luther’s Theses.

Of such great sentiments - and facts - are revolutions made.

Your strongly worded letter to people with a similar point of view should do the trick.

Hey, I know, how about instead of writing letters to other true-belivers in the choir, you convince 3, 4 or 5 people in your life to vote with you who might otherwise not - and make sure they get to the polls on election day.

Now THAT would be a message.

"It's time to fire them all. "

Get a grip. I'm sick of this nonsense. There are some people in Congress who've been standing up for our country and for us, and half of FR is ready to kick them to the curb because "fire them all" is a snappy slogan and investing the thought necessary to distinguish between the innocent and the guilty might get in the way of their self-indulgent, therapeutic raging.

Nice rant and very well done. “Liberty, Freedom and Justice” are such novel ideas. ;>)

Regrettably, I don’t share your faith that any of this is going to get turned around without a Second American Revolution.

I see 2010 as the last chance and it may turn things around, but if it doesn’t, 2012 will not likely be a bloodless election.

Of course, the way things have been going, We The People may not wait for the next election. As ugly as that sounds, we are being forced to the edge of a cliff.... I for one, refuse to be pushed into the abyss.

At any rate, this is going to be a most interesting and very trying year for all of us.

“Liberty, Freedom and Justice” must win out by whatever means necessary and at any cost. Failure is not an option.... regardless of what it takes to succeed.

So as I see it, pray and labor for the bloodless ballot to work, but be prepared to deal with the worst, as it may truly be just around the next bend in the road.

Actually, I "have a grip". You missed the entire point of the exercise. Every single, current member of Congress including the noobs from the last election have either caved in or tried to wangle things for their districts.

This isn't about how well you like your Congressman or woman, it's about sending them a message.

Congress has been sending us a LOT of messages. I'll give you an example. Four months ago I took several hours to write a heart-felt, very well-thought out, deeply researched letter to one of the Colorado Senator, Michael Bennet regarding his vote on the monster 2000+ page Health Care bill.

In the letter I gave facts, and information in regards to the my own personal health insurance (and of course, by default similar care for thousands of others here in Colorado because they have similar policies). I explained that the people don't WANT a Congress-controlled system, and we certainly don't want Congress making it MORE difficult on people.

He wrote back a three paragraph letter. Thanking me for writing and giving my opinion, telling me he was going to vote HIS way and NOT MINE (or by his constituents) and lastly explaining how he was there to a job IN SPITE of PEOPLE LIKE ME.

I let it go... then three weeks ago, he was on the local radio and TV channels (remember I wrote him THREE MONTHS BEFORE) saying, "My Constituents have finally spoken! They are ASKING FOR CHANGE and I am going to VOTE FOR this bill!"
Really? Fire them all. Good, Bad, Right or Left. THEY WORK FOR US. We DO NOT WORK FOR THEM!

One more tidbit that we are not in total agreement on, “It’s time to fire them all”.

That might look good on a sign and there are days when that seems like it’s the direction we should go... but there are still a few statesmen left and a few patriots that are breaking their butts to turn this sinking ship around.

We need to be picky, but lets not throw out the very guys and gals that are actually doing their jobs... we need them.

“Tell two people to tell two people...”

I’ve got 4 that I’ve convinced so far. Here in California, that’s saying something.

Practical action is what’s going to win it for our side, one person at a time.

I hate to admit to being in that classification (I liked youth much better), but at 61, I think I might be a “Senior”. ;>)

This isn't about how well you like your Congressman or woman, it's about sending them a message.

And in my case, the message I would be sending if I did as you suggest is: "It's pointless to even try to do what I want you to do, I'm going to stab you in the back anyway."

Congress has been sending us a LOT of messages. I'll give you an example. Four months ago I took several hours to write a heart-felt, very well-thought out, deeply researched letter to one of the Colorado Senator, Michael Bennet regarding his vote on the monster 2000+ page Health Care bill.

That sucks. You senator is a scumbag. That's YOUR problem, now YOU deal with it yourself.

Fire them all. Good, Bad, Right or Left. THEY WORK FOR US. We DO NOT WORK FOR THEM!

My Congressman works for me, he doesn't work for you. Your Congressman works for you, he doesn't work for me. It is nonsensical to fire an employee who is doing a good job. You treat your employees as you see fit and I'll thank you not to advise me on how to treat mine based on your temper tantrum.

“I didn’t convince 3-4 people either. Try dozens.”

Sounds like you’re going to have things sewn up by election time!

The words help fire us up, but practical actions wins elections.

What a stupid post.

3 of our 5 congressmen here in San Diego are great Conservative Republicans,
Marine Col. Duncan Hunter, Darrell Issa and Brian Bilbray.

There are many other great Conservative Republicans.

I want these people serving with their seniority and experience.

We are at war and this is no time for beginners.

What you are telling voters to do, if you have a broken foot, cut off both legs.
