At the turn of the 19th century, Venezuela and Colombia were fighting against their Spanish colonizers in wars of independence. Simon Bolivar, considered Venezuela's liberator, found refuge and material support for his army in the homes of Jews from Curaçao. Jews such as Mordejai Ricardo and brothers Ricardo and Abraham Meza offered hospitality to Bolivar as he fought against the Spanish, thus establishing brotherly relations between Jews and the newly independent Venezuelan republic.
Several Jews even fought in the ranks of Bolivar's army during the war. The ties between Jews in the Dutch island colonies and Venezuela increased more dramatically between 1819-1821 after its new constitution called for religious freedom. The history of Venezuela's Jews is uneven...some places they were tolerate, others they were attacked. There has Never been, however, state sponsored Jew-hatred in the country until Hugo Chávez's rise. The more that Chávez consolidates his stranglehold on Venezuela the greater his oppression of the country's Jewish Population.
Back in May, Congressman Connie Mack introduced a resolution condemning Hugo Chavez for the state sponsored anti-Semitism (see below). The resolution was sent to the House Foreign relations committee where it still sits. Apparently House Democrats are not ready to bash Chavez. The must feel that since the President is willing to wrongly bash our Honduras ally to make Chavez happy...what's a few dead Venezuelan Jews.

Why don’t these people go get a REAL job?
Of course they wont condemn Chavez for anti-Semitism, they agree with him.
hey, he likes Arabs. They’re Semites. Just don’t tell them.
Scratch a liberal goyim and you'll find an antisemite 99% of the time. A black liberal goyim, only 99.999% of the time, however.
I'll never understand the Jews' alliance with the left. Sorry, but those guys want to kill you.
Friends of Hugo’s...
They are all lawyers.
We used to hang our traitors. Or at least tar and feather them.
OK. Thinking of the language family then.
A lot of “neocons” are Jewish lawyers. I think Jews go into law to “do go”, they see power as the opportunity to “make a difference”. A lot of Jews are “microeconomically smart”, i.e., clever, good students and technicians, but “macroeconomically” stupid: they don’t see the harm the policies they champion do.
It’s a kind of willful ignorance: better to act destructively for the right reasons than act constructively for the wrong reasons. Many Jews seem to feel voting Republican would be a betrayal of the race, like being baptized, or owning a pick up truck.
btt
Trial Lawyers, Accountants and Bankers. Of course American Jews are Democrats. But I doubt if they are Communists and even they may be getting worried about the Radicals. Don’t need lawyers in Communism.
You are correct. One could construe antisemitism to include most of the people of the Mideast, but it generally only is used referring to Jews.
There is also a strong strain of philanthropy that runs through Jewish tradition. A lot of Jews embrace the notion that the rich should help the poor, even it that means the Jews, being more gifted than most (frankly) will wind up net contributers.
I think they blind themselves to the fact that the driving impulse of Communism, and liberalism in general, isn't generosity, but envy. The Germans envied the Jews and made them pay for the Germans’ envy. (The German consul in New York, a friend of Einsteins, told him during his visit to America that if he returned to Berlin, he would be dragged through the street by his hair.)
Hey. I forgot about that. Actually I never thought about it that way. Good point.
The Dims will probably pass a bill congratulating Russia on the 92nd anniversary of the founding of the USSR.
