Sarah Palin: Statement on the Current Health Care Debate
facebook ^ | Aug. 7, 2009 | Sarah Palin

Posted on 08/07/2009 1:45:04 PM PDT by Al B.

As more Americans delve into the disturbing details of the nationalized health care plan that the current administration is rushing through Congress, our collective jaw is dropping, and we’re saying not just no, but hell no!

The Democrats promise that a government health care system will reduce the cost of health care, but as the economist Thomas Sowell has pointed out, government health care will not reduce the cost; it will simply refuse to pay the cost. And who will suffer the most when they ration care? The sick, the elderly, and the disabled, of course. The America I know and love is not one in which my parents or my baby with Down Syndrome will have to stand in front of Obama’s “death panel” so his bureaucrats can decide, based on a subjective judgment of their “level of productivity in society,” whether they are worthy of health care. Such a system is downright evil.

Health care by definition involves life and death decisions. Human rights and human dignity must be at the center of any health care discussion.

Rep. Michele Bachmann highlighted the Orwellian thinking of the president’s health care advisor, Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel, the brother of the White House chief of staff, in a floor speech to the House of Representatives. I commend her for being a voice for the most precious members of our society, our children and our seniors.

We must step up and engage in this most crucial debate. Nationalizing our health care system is a point of no return for government interference in the lives of its citizens. If we go down this path, there will be no turning back. Ronald Reagan once wrote, “Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Actually, a government bureau is the nearest thing to eternal life we’ll ever see on this earth.” Let’s stop and think and make our voices heard before it’s too late.

This statement by Palin is proof that she is an exceptional political stategist.

The more I think about the words, the delivery and the timing, the more impressed I am.

Judging by the trolls going ballistic on her facebook page tonight, I'd say she's over the target...LOL. Same thing happened after her crap & tax op ed.

The lady DOES have an exquisite sense of timing. :)

No problem — looks like mutual misunderstandings — sorry.

Yeah, it was just getting too crazy, I had no idea what you were referring to. In the future, before I jump to conclusions, I will ask what you are referring to. We are both on the same page. My the way, what Sarah has said has gone viral, EVERYWHERE. She doesn’t talk like a politician, she talks like a human being who understands what will happen if this crap passes. Take care and have a wonderful weekend

If ANY Republican, I don’t care if they are Conservative, moderate, or whatever other kind of Republican, can’t look at Sarah’s words and agree with what she said, well, then those are the kinds of Republicans we have to kick out of office. Sarah is 1000 percent right, the elderly mind as well start the death march now because if this passes, that will be what they have to do. Sarah knows it, and we all know it. If they distance themselves from her for speaking the TRUTH, we will know where those particular Republicans stand as far as the GOP is concerned and we will kick their asses out of office. It’s either they are for this crap or against it. Sarah is against it, and they should be too

She never said she was (going to be at the Reagan Library)... in fact Meg Stapleton kept saying nothing has been confirmed for any appearances anywhere and people didn’t believe it because the organizers evidentally thought by inviting her she would show and they said she was coming.

In addition Ezekelia Emanuel (Rohm’s brother who is a health advisor to Obama) has stated that the only people worth saving are not the very young or the old, he actually has a chart that shows at what point people would be saved and let die.

she would probably quote Reagan: “There you go again” or something like that. :)

He really had a few 'zingers' for his opponents.

Sarah is so young to enter this fray. She has guts, I know, but I feel she'll need serious support from those committed to turning back so much socialism that has become so ingrained.

Football analogy: Sarah takes the snap and steps back into the pocket, where are her blockers? As yet, the 'team' is yet to materialize but I think it will. 'Cause this girl's got an 'arm'. As she goes up against Team Obama she'll see lots of underhandedness and the refs, (media) won't be throwing flags (unless they're against her).

I get the feeling lots of folks will volunteer to defend the pocket from the Obama defense, but I'm not sure who she'll have as recievers. Here's where I get a 'special' feeling: Her offensive line will be so great, she'll easily carry the ball into the end-zone by herself. Quarter after quarter, precinct after precinct. The Obamatrons know this and will try everything in the book (Chicago style) to stop her, but they'll lose.

2012 is Team Liberty vs. Team Tyranny in the Superbowl. 2010 is the draft to see who'll be playing for whom. Wouldn't want to be a RINO during the trade for free-agents at this time.

Team Tyranny just went long to Billy Jeff in Korea and gained a few yards with the return of two 'journalists'. (Could come back to bite them when U.S. tourists start disappearing around the globe). As a coach, when I see them throw to a Clinton, I know their backfield is weak. They have no ground game- they haven't anyone who can block or to hand-off to.

Team Liberty is somewhat new to the field since Team Compassionate Conservative tried to get some of the opposing players to lend them a hand by 'reaching' across the aisle. Eight years of getting your hand 'bit' has a way of waking people up. Believe me, Team Liberty is awake.

To think this game could be played in America at all is surprising in that Team Tyranny is at such a disadvantage. Even with the help of the refs (media) their game-plan is so foreign to American sports fans. (Since when is going into the stands to beat-up fans acceptable?) They (tyranny) may have won the toss, ("we won") but Lady Liberty is about to teach them a lesson. She's not a 'quitter' and she has lots of friends. Lots and lots of FRiends.

What better than to have a woman from Alaska become the living image of Lady Liberty. Millions of Americans will recognize her and support her in a quest to dispel that which is foreign to our soil. Tyrants and despots had better be headed for the exits.

We have, or will soon have, the restoration of our constitution and the rights it bestows, re-established such that individuals will once again produce the marvels inherent in an industrious and free society. Our markets will deliver as they have in the past, the best that the consumer desires at prices they can afford. Period.

Whiners, collectivists, communitarians, and other socialists need to relocate where their values are respected (Canada, Iran, etc.). America was never about such things, and I apologize to those who, with such inclinations, felt this could be their home. It wasn't. And, it won't be.

We have abject evil amongst us. It has been festering for decades and is now rapidly advancing

So true, yet the antidote is on the horizon. Forget H1N1, this administration is out to kill America as we know it. But, there is a vaccine for this particular virus. It might be headed here on a sled and may take a while. We need to be patient.

snip

“In 1925, 20 mushers and about 150 sled dogs relayed diphtheria antitoxin 674 miles (1,085 km) by dog sled across the U.S. territory of Alaska in a record-breaking five and a half days, saving the small city of Nome and the surrounding communities from an incipient epidemic.”

See?

Thanks for your post.

Liked your comment about Clinton. Yes, I think that shows real weakness - not only the negotiations with NK, but the fact he didn't have any from "his own team" to send.

To think this game could be played in America at all is surprising in that Team Tyranny is at such a disadvantage. Even with the help of the refs (media) their game-plan is so foreign to American sports fans. (Since when is going into the stands to beat-up fans acceptable?)

No, that's more like soccer. See picture below where Frenchman Eric Cantona (who played for Manchester United) aims a flying kick against spectator who made offensive gesture against him:

Socialized medicine is a European invention that does not belong in the US.

Hm. Strangely underwhelming. It's not bad as copy (first draft) for a TV political ad. But as a "statement" from one who wants to portray herself as a party leader, it's sadly inadequate. Her only concrete recommendation -- if you can call it that -- is "We must step up and engage in this most crucial debate." Well, Sarah, you're a big girl. If you want to "step up," you shouldn't waste time with invitations to "step up." If you really want to be a leader, you should be jumping into this with a serious, detailed discussion of the health care issue -- something that requires a serious response. All we got here is a whine. Nicely written, but a whine nonetheless.

MORON

Did she say she "wants to portray herself as a leader"? Those are YOUR words, not hers.

She's only been out of the Governor's chair for a few days.

When she's ready to "portray herself as a leader" there will be no mistaking it. I'll bet even you will be able to figure it out!

I thought this was a pretty good statement that was short, truthful, and to the point.

I guess you prefer some one like Obama who rambles on and on for hours in an endless blather of platitudes, but never really says anything with all his babbling.

I'll take Sarah any day over a slick talking political hack who promises the moon but can't deliver.

“I’m on the road just outside the Philly city limits and caught an Air America broadcast with a Salon.com columnist trashing the “death panel” comment.”

They’re all mouthing the party line at her, no matter how right she is, and she’s right in both senses of that word. The Demonrats see it as “getting the ball over the goal line no matter what” and that’s how thy play it. Never mind ideas or ideals - WIN is the name of their game. Truth doesn’t matter, either.

This is just one little skirmish in Satan’s war against God, who could destroy him with one eyelash.
