In my personal opinion, Obama is a disaster for America. I believe future historians will describe this period as the OBAMA CATASTROPHE - the time when America collectively lost its mind and voted for a man and a group of leftists who quickly destroyed the nation in favor of socialism and income redistribution.
However, if people want to save the American nation and way of life - the best and most benevolent society in human history; opposition must be passionate and RATIONAL. The entire legitimacy or birther issue is indeed passionate but definitely not rational.
It has been frustrating to see my fellow-Freepers waste so much time and effort arguing that Obama isn't a legitimate president. He is and no amount of wishful thinking to the contrary will change that fact.

What has become of us? I know some conservatives tend to lean towards mindless conspiracy theories but this is getting ridiculous.
Free Republic is a forum where conservative issues are discussed, hopefully rationally but always passionately. I remember when we all laughed at the conspiracy theories emanating from the liberals and leftists (i.e., 9-11 was an inside job) and now the same type of lunacy has infected this forum.
Time to stop the birther distraction and focus on the real issue of saving the Republic.

He won't allow his college record, medical records or birth certificate to be seen. Instead ALL are off limits and sealed. Now why is that? It's because he is NOT legit. THAT is an ISSUE that was never resolved. It's still on the table.
It's the same old thing ... like the gay argument .. you're supposed to believe that is perfectly normal - even though it has been shown people are NOT born that way and there is NO “gay gene”. I am not disagreeing with that. The problem is the people who ran against 0 didn’t make it an issue.

Focusing on the issues and requiring transparency are not mutually exclusive.
Not asking questions would be irrational.
Not upholding the Constitution would be irrational.
Giving in to fear and intimidation would be rational.
Relying on a Salon set of talking points would be irrational.
Not holding politicians accountable would be irrational.
Us? The same? Distraction? Real Issue?

You complain and complain that the BC issue is a "distraction" and that we should just "shut up" about it, and yet I find you posting hundreds and hundreds of posts on these threads and even starting your own threads to discuss this issue over and over and over and over and over again and again and again and again.
It is clear to me that if anyone is obsessed about this issue, it is YOU.
If you think it is a distraction, then get the hell off these threads so that they won't take up so much bandwidth.
If you don't think this issue is worthy of discussion, then quit discussing it!

The overall issue to consider is will the mass of conservative activists be distracted by many problems with the Obama Presidency and programs being ardently raised in a repeated manner or will the Obama administration be distracted in dealing with a large number of challenges?
That is what you are saying — focus on the few issues that you consider most important.
However I believe the marxists are prepared and not only prepared but in control of the media, the educational system and many organization that should be the public’s tools to root out his destruction of the nation and that they must be overwhelmed to be defeated.
In the computer age, we call it buffer overload. The system the leftists have in place can handle the easy stuff such as oposition to “every person’s RIGHT to healthcare” but they can’t handle the unexpected challenge.
Let the birthers be. Its not what my talents at rhetoric are best suited for, but I will fight those battles without regard for action on my flank.

I don’t see any feasible or reasonable way that The Dali Obama was born anywhere else. Why would a grad student (S. Ann Dunham) travel 10,000 miles to give birth in a third world hell-hole rather than a civilized, modern country?
Even the most dead ender of the hate America crowd wouldn’t be likely to do this.
Obama hasn’t released his birth certificate because:
1. He’s a liberal.
a. Liberals, by necessity, try to hide, twist, obfuscate everything because no one would ever support their policies if they knew what they were.
b. This carries on to all parts of their actions, it’s the default position to “cover up”.
2. He realizes that this makes his opposition look like fevered moonbats.
a. This has no traction with the American public due to it’s lack of plausibility.
b. We (ALL OF US) get lumped in with folks that think the CIA took down the buildings on 9-11.
Andrew McCarthy put it well when he said that we’ve elected a man based on his character and nothing else, yet he keeps so much of his past under wraps. That should be cause for concern, but it’s not just his birth certificate, it’s his transcripts, his writings, etc.
If folks want to continue down this road, fine, there’s nothing I can or will do to stop them. Just realize that you’re destroying our credibility in the court of public opinion, where credibility is everything.

Maybe the founders knew that split loyalties could create the disaster that HE is, they included the “Natural Born” provision to spare us the grief!
why are they spending millions of dollars trying to convince people of his legitimacy when they could simply show us a real birth certificate. That is irrational behavior.
