Probably would but to preach the gospel not to get drunk and whatnot.

Not to befriend but to save.

Interesting poll: 50% No, 25% Yes 25% I Don’t Know.
I voted “I don’t know” because I don’t know what Our Lord would do if He were here today. He certainly surprised the Pharisees of His day, and their expectations of Him were way off.

If Jesus were engaged in His earthly ministry today, He would not frequent bars and pubs to befriend “sinners”. He would frequent bars and pubs to befriend sinners (and call them to repentance).

One of the biggest complaints by the religious leaders of His time was that he ate and drank and spent time with sinners.

Why is the premise that bars and clubs are where sinners hang out?

I think He would hold council outside and engage anyone that came near. He went to visit sinners when invited, He didn’t ‘hang out’ with them.

If the answer is “yes,” does that mean he’d spend most of his time at gay bars (and/or highway rest stops)?

Hint: it’s where the “church people” ain’t. In fact, in religious society it’s highly frowned upon to go into bars. I’m sure there are worse places, but they weren’t at the top of my head when creating the poll.

Why not? He hanged out with tax collectors and hookers.

Amen, guitarpicker.
That was the ONLY claim that had against our LORD.
But then, who else was there to dine with?

Absolutely true. Actually the emphasis of the poll (in my mind) was bar and pubs. Wrapping our minds around the concept.

Since we all sinners, He will run into them everywhere he goes.
To: tenger
I'm a sinner. I don't go to bars and rarely drink but there's more to sinning than drinking and going to bars.
If I owned a bar I'd call it "Glass House."
