Limbaugh: Palin Might Leave GOP For Third Party
Right Side News ^ | 7/15/09 | the DailyBell.com

Posted on 07/15/2009 6:46:08 PM PDT by Rodebrecht

There's growing speculation from former aids, political journalists, and even Rush Limbaugh himself that Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is considering forming a third party alternative for conservatives. Palin, the former GOP vice presidential nominee who stunned the political world by resigning as governor two weeks ago with 18 months left in her term, also posted a link to a column speculating about such a move on her Facebook page. Two articles, one from conservative writer Tammy Bruce, the other from The Washington Times, suggest she may be considering leaving the Republican Party to form a third party alternative.

Radio show host Rush Limbaugh said Palin may leave the GOP and form her own because Republicans have "been just as mean-spirited to her as the Democrats" have. "When I watched her speech when she announced she was going to leave the governorship of Alaska, I didn't hear the word Republican mentioned once," Limbaugh said. - NewsMax

As I’ve often said before, third parties don’t normally work. But if you look at history, they do work occasionally, maybe once in a century. One of the current major parties just gets tired and worn out, and finally a new party rises to take it’s place.

Of course, that happened with the Republican Party, which rose to success in the time of Lincoln and succeeded in throwing the Whig Party into the dustbin of history.

It’s too soon to tell whether that might happen now. But I’ve never seen a situation in my lifetime where it seemed more likely. I wasn’t taken in by Ross Perot. But this time it’s different.

Two things are needed: a Republican Party that is essentially hopeless, and a really strong and trustworthy conservative leader who can unite all parts of the base—social conservatives, fiscal conservatives, libertarians, Catholics, Evangelicals.

I think maybe Sarah is such a person. I certainly would consider backing her if she goes down that route, and I can’t remember ever saying that before.

Maybe the Republican party will wake up and smell the roses. But it sure as hell doesn’t seem very likely, the way things are going. Here we are in the midst of what may be the worst crisis in American history, the Civil War included, and the Republican leadership still can’t seem to manage to pull up their socks.

So, I’m open to it, if that’s the way it plays out. And I think Sarah is the leader to do it, if it needs to be done.

I think that would great!... I am tired of just having two choices. You want a party that represents you not only on financial issues or state or gun rights, but one that is not ashamed of defending social-values.

Blacks have clearly demonstrated that a minority can have a say in the big picture IF... THEY STICK TOGETHER on whatever principles are important for that group. Palin is the kind of person / politician we like... her character is a good FOUNDATION for anything else.

Conclusion: Sarah Palin and Joe Scarborough are part of a much larger and very clever rebranding process that seems to be grass roots but in our estimation is being run by Republican power brokers. There are probably no accidents in politics as Franklin Delano Roosevelt famously said, and the current expansion of the "conservative" trend is no accident either. It is not aimed at the Democrats, or even Barack Obama so much as it is aimed at controlling what such power brokers believe is truly dangerous, Libertarian Republicans and Ron Paul.

Yeah, sure. Whatever.

For God’s sake can someone find for me the quote where Sarah Palin said she was leaving the Republican party. Stop listening to the BS lies from the media, come on, we are all smarter then that. Sarah is NOT leaving the Republican party

People, get a grip.

Palin has said nothing of the sort.

The leftist media turds are going bonkers creating half-truths and outright lies to keep the conservatives bouncing from wall to wall.

Check out Sarah Palin on Facebook.com, or follow her on twitter at AKGovSarahPalin to keep up with what she is saying. If it didn't come from her, take it with a grain of salt.

She's getting a big head...kinda like Perot. My message to Governor Palin is that if she does it the RATS....filthy,amoral individuals like Kennedy,Frank,Boxer,Franken and **many** others...will stand by and cheer.

With good reason.

(crap, that scare tactic doesn’t seem to work anymore to keep conservatives in line)”

When we nominate CONSERVATIVES, we win. It's just that simple.

When we go squishy, we lose.. and, if we go third party, we dissapear. All is not lost yet. WIN in the Party, and make the RINO's hold their nose and vote for us!

Anyone who puts Joe Scaboro in the same category as Palin is blind and dumb. Joe Scab is a RINO of the highest order.

Newsmax took Rush Limbaugh's statements and twisted them to make a sensational story. They aren't the best source for news, sort of Examiner-Light.

Sadly both parties are owned by Wall Street........................................ And our representatives are made up of 63% of greedy lawyers, and many of them are corrupt. The legislative branch of our government needs a complete enema. Their own interests come first before the interests of the people.

Maybe she can talk some fellow conservatives into going with her - form a whole new party.

No better way to keep Obama in office until 2016. Third parties are a one way ticket to nowhere.

Rush is the first to admit he has no more idea what Sarah will do than anybody else.

Personally I don’t think she would ever go third party. Third parties are for losers, and Sarah is no loser.
