I can't find any garlic powder that is not produced in China, whether it's a name brand, or generic brand. I'm willing to order it. Has anyone found any that is not produced in China?
Hey, I just looked at my garlic powder which is Target’s brand called “Market Pantry.” No indication of country of origin. Is that legal?
That’s why we have to complain to the stores as you did. It’s bad enough we have to buy the electronics, but their food could make us sick.
It’s probably too late to stop the electronics from being made in China, but it’s early enough where we can get the stores to start carrying USA garlic and other foods again.
I called Hannaford and told them to stop carrying shrimp from China, and they DID! Probably others called, as well.
Call the store and ask them where it’s made if it doesn’t say.
I THINK the law is that if it doesn’t say, it’s supposed to be produced in our country, but I’m not sure.
I heard that most of the vitamin C we have in this country is produced in China.
“I THINK the law is that if it doesnt say, its supposed to be produced in our country, but Im not sure.”
Nope. The latest labeling implemented that Meat is supposed to be labeled, and possible fresh food. But if it’s packaged, processed, I don’t think they have to tell you where it’s from.
Q. What commodities require country of origin labeling?
A. Covered commodities include muscle cuts of beef (including veal), lamb, pork, goat, and
chicken; ground beef, ground lamb, ground pork, ground goat, and ground chicken; farm-
raised fish and shellfish; wild fish and shellfish; perishable agricultural commodities;
peanuts; ginseng, pecans and macadamia nuts.

“Our high quality dried garlic comes from soft-neck garlic grown in California.”
We stopped buying canned mushrooms for just that reason. If I *must* have mushrooms, we get fresh now. Sad, but what else are you gonna do? I don’t want to chance it.
Exactly. Last time we had a thread on garlic, someone posted directions from growing it in containers on your porch. Just plop a clove into the soil and stand back. Grows like a weed.
On their website it has a description of the product including place of origin. Double click on the item and the description will show.
Check post #51 the CA. growers are having big problems becaquse of imports from China.

The Chinese stuff has lots of extra protein!
It’s Watkins, not Watson. I’ve put out feelers and will certainly find some. I haven’t even started trying garlic from Gilroy (CA) yet.
It will be done. Just don’t breathe on me. :D
Thanks! Gilroy, the garlic capital!
