"I'm here to take the census!"

Republican Senator Judd Gregg was Obama’s first choice for the Secretary of Commerce post, and Gregg was actually considering joining the Obama team, until he found out that control of the US Census was being stripped from the Commerce Department and placed under the direct control of White House Chief of Staff, Rahm Emanuel.
Then, the same week that Americans learned that they were “domestic terrorists” -- at least according to Obama’s new DHS (Department of Homeland Security), -- if they own a bible, a pocket Constitution or guns, and still believe in Life, Liberty and Freedom, - they also learned that Obama’s Census Bureau had hired thousands of new temporary employees, equipped each with a handheld GPS computer and sent them out to mark GPS coordinates for every residential front door in America.
Oddly, it was this same period that news was breaking of an international flu pandemic, suspected of being a weaponized strain of the virus never before seen, - and that Obama’s team still sees no need to close the US-Mexican border, despite the cross continental spread of a deadly illness now claiming American lives.
Now, if any one of these events happened alone, one might not get too excited. But when a string of such events happen all at once, one begins to question the string of freedom and life threatening coincidences...
I can’t resist the urge to question the authority and purpose behind such a BIG BROTHER initiative, when the official Census itself is not due to be taken until 2010...
No imagination is required to think up a whole laundry list of evil that could be done with a nationwide GPS grid of coordinate’s markers painted on every private home across the country. But I was having trouble thinking up one good reason for it, even one legitimate use that would justify what must be a very expensive undertaking.
According to one of the Census workers, who spoke with me on condition of anonymity, they must GPS mark the coordinates “within 40 ft of every front door” in America and they are supposed to complete that mission nation wide, within 90 days, by the end of July 2009.
The workers were not told why they were GPS marking every front door. But a supervisor is sent out to follow them door-to-door, to make certain that no door is left unmarked. Every door will be marked by one employee, and then checked by a follow-up supervisor.
So, I had to ask, why?
Why does the Obama administration need or want the latitude and longitude coordinates for every home in America ? Why the rush to GPS paint every home in the next 90 days? Why must the marker be within 40 ft of every front door? For what possible purpose does the Fed need GPS coordinates for every home, and under what authority do they have the right? Census workers, whom I asked, had the same holy-crap look on their faces that I had by then...

why do they need to know the number of doors on the house?
Some people like to attack without thinking or knowing. It’s the internet. Words are cheap.

Try as I might, the only reason I can see for creating a database of physical delivery points within 40 feet of a residence is a military purpose sometimes called painting a target.
GPS driving directions will take you right to the address. Physical mail doesn’t have much problem with delivery to specific addresses either.
Can anybody think of a benign/legitimate reason for such a mass database of residential GPS coordinates?

That is truly amazing since the census taking does not start until 2010.
He responded directly to me, basically saying I was lying (thus implying everyone else was, too) because the census doesn’t start until next year.
He doesn’t believe any of it. His government would never do such a thing.
It seems like much more damage culd be done if they just got the database of one of the credit reporting agencies.

Google marks the wrong house for mine. Errors are not unusual.
Google developed that database from whatever data they could get their hands on, not actually walking a GPS onto your front porch. This new data will be pervasively more accurate.

Americans who refuse to answer questions they consider invasive on their Census questionnaires will be able to sleep a little easier — at least for now.
A federal judge ruled yesterday that the Census Bureau has no automatic right to ask questions felt to be personal or intrusive and that it cannot threaten or prosecute citizens who refuse to answer such questions.
U.S. District Judge Melinda Harmon granted attorney Mark Brewer, of the Houston-based firm of Brewer and Pritchard, a temporary restraining order in a Census suit filed by five Houston, Texas, residents. Attorneys for the government conceded that none of the five plaintiffs will be subject to actual or threatened prosecution during this litigation which is expected to go to the U.S. Supreme Court.
The ruling is especially far-reaching.
“For the moment, this will prevent prosecution against any American who chooses not to answer questions other than the number of people living at their address — that’s all that’s required by the Constitution,” Brewer told WorldNetDaily. “It’s a huge victory for the Constitution and for privacy-loving Americans, because we now have a ruling in a federal court case.
“The Census Bureau cannot extract this information under threat of criminal prosecution — that was the issue I presented to the court,” he said.
The penalty for not answering each question asked on the forms is $100. False answers can cost up to $500 in fines.
Had a lady do that to my house yesterday.
SUV pulls up off to the side of my home and out steps some lady from the Census bureau. How did I know? Because I asked her just what the hell was she doing.
And she lied and said something about how I am the last person to be registered in this area. Didn't realize it at the time but she had a handheld device in her hand that yeah ... certainly looked to have been a GPS unit/palmtop.

The “required by law” thing caused an uproar last time around. They threatened a $100 fine, which many were entirely willing to pay. The fine/punishment was ultimately rescinded/ignored; we’ll see what happens this time ‘round.
