"Dinner time" is a highly variable concept. 6 PM in the Midwest when I grew up there, but in France the
bouchons opened 6 PM or so to catch the American tourists, peaking business many hours later.
From what I see, "Early to bed / Early to rise .." seems to be a uniquely American expression. (Though the concept lives on among those trying to make their way upward elsewhere.)

A bit more European, I think. I am thoroughly conditioned to having the "big meal" in the evening, whenever it happens -- 7 to 10+ PM.
