Will Obama Countenance a Second Civil War?
From Sea to Shining Sea ^ | 1/20/09 | Purple Mountains

In my opinion, the cultural war between secular-progressives and traditional Americans will become a violent, bloody war if the Democrats in Congress try to criminalize policy differences by trying to punish members of the Bush Administration for attempting (and succeeding) to protect American lives. Obama isn’t saying much, although he appointed Holder, but Pelosi, Conyers, Reid, Holder and others are mouthing some very dangerous thoughts. As a minimum, practices that were originated by Carter and Clinton and merely continued by the Bush Administration (such as rendition and warrantless wiretapping) will be given much publicity, and, beyond that, some of us will be forced to support some violent people we normally shun and despise.

Go to war over Bush? No, I don’t think so..there are many things to go to war over, but President 43RINO isn’t one of them. Let them rot, Idc!

There are many thing that are as good as gold, like soap, drygoods etc... I’m sure you already have your ammo, I feel pretty bad for the slobs that don’t know what “change” means yet.

Well that was predictable.

The quickest way to avoid admitting you’re wrong is to change the subject - and Reductio ad Hitlerum is a most poplar way to do that.

“We have always been at war with Oceania” never appeared in the book. You used the phrase incorrectly. You were caught. You tried to weasel out of it. You were caught again. So I’m Hitler.

Tsk, tsk.

You’re the second person to set up that straw man.

I did NOT say cater to the middle. Would all of you PLEASE actually read and comprehend the post an my comments before rushing off to correct me.

The post was about a 2nd Civil War. I said talk of that kind of stuff was dangerous to the conservative movement as it marginalizes us and makes us look like moonbat libs and ludicrous.

Even if in some bizarre fantasy world this would occur, the vast majority of Americans - including many on “our side” would opposed it. Just as pro-Slavery/Pro-south generals and leaders did in the 1860’s.

Forget everything else I said, okay. The point is ENOUGH of thye 2nd CW talk. Its masturbatory.

You’re the one who said, in Post 3 on this thread, that we need to avoid turning “... people in the middle off.”.

My point was it was a bigger margin than the past half dozen or so elections.

The past half dozen elections includes Bush 41 who beat Dukakis in the popular vote 53.37% to 45.65%. Obama beat McCain 52.87% to 45.62%. Although they have similar results, Obama will have a decided advantage in Congress with 262 to 178 in the House and about 59 or 58 to 41 or 42 in the Senate. In Bush 41's 101st Congress, the Dems controlled the Senate 55-45 and the House 260-175.

The reality is that Obama will get whatever he wants. Hopefully, the Reps will distance themselves from Obama's programs, which will destroy the country. There will be plenty of pressure for the Reps to be bipartisan and support these programs thereby assuming some of the responsibility for the consequences. It would be a major mistake for the Reps not to oppose Obama from the get go.

Look, I swore an oath to defend the Constitution of the United States, not some socialist regime that seeks to corrupt it to their own ends.

“... if these idiots want to stay in power they are going to have to allow a lot of drilling and exploration to help increase domestic supplies.” I would respectfully disgree. The democrat party is positioning to take advantage of hardtimes and they will create such if it doesn’t happen naturally. To institute their dream of ‘green America’ they will destroy the nation’s commerce through increaqsed taxation and excessive and intrusive regulation. Rhambo Emanuel has said openly that no crisis should go unused ... Schumer pushed the first domino over to empower the demcorats this fall by setting fire to the economic collapse. There is no evil democrats would not use to empwer themselves, as evidenced by their exploitation of abortion slaughter for lo these three plus decades and tens of millions of slaughtered infants.

“Correction: Never once in the entire book are the words “at war with Oceania” written to describe “We are at war with Oceania”. The entire book takes place in Oceania. It would be like saying “We are war with ourselves”. “

Hence the irony, dolt.
“We are war with ourselves”.= Civil War

You’re right, but I did not mean we need to cater to them either. I basically meant we need to avoid looking like the rightwing version of the moonbats.

I swore that same oath. I’ll not break it. You may. if you ever do, you’ll suffer the same fate as the last traitors who tried it and many, many conservatives like me will be there to opposes you, just like Farragut and Sheridan, who were from the south, and Sherman and others who though Blacks inferior nonetheless knew what side they stood for. The side of the United States.

Since he is the second coming of Lincoln, in his own mind, a second civil war would make sense.

but 53% is huge by election standards. It was the largest NON-incumbent margin in U.S. history.

Who sold you that lie?

Obama 52.9%, McCain 45.7% doesn't compare to...
George HW Bush 53.4%, Dukakis 45.7%... although he was the VEEP before the '88 election... but then there's:
Eisenhower 55.2%, Stevenson 44.3% (1952, not 1956) and
FDR ('32) 57.4%, Hoover 39.7%...
Hoover 58.2%, Al Smith 40.8%...
Warren G Harding 60.3%, James Cox 34.1%...

and they were all were taking the White House from the opposition party... and those are just from the last 15 presidents!

Reagan vs Carter.
50.7% vs 41.0% of the popular vote.
John Anderson picked up most of the slack.

Better yet, Reagan vs Mondale.
58.8% vs. 40.6%

Sorta makes Obama’s 53% pale, in comparison.

There has NEVER been a civil war in this country.
