It was 45 years ago today, November 22, 1963, that President John F. Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas, Texas. Here are a series of videos that bring back the events of the day, beginning with the extremely graphic Zapruder film showing the assassination itself, followed by news coverage of the assassination . . . . . Wow, amazing.

“Addison’s disease would have taken him long ago”
Got that right. It was well covered-up then that Kennedy was in horrid medical shape with the Addison’s attacking him. Plus he was addicted to painkillers and other medications. He was a wreck.
Back, and to the left.
Back, and to the left.
I was not alive at the time (although I do remember the 20th anniversary). My father was in his high school theology class, when one of the Christian Brothers ran in and said, "the President has been shot."
I met Bob Jackson, the photog who took that Pulitzer winning pic of Ruby shooting Oswald. Jackson was working for the Colorado Springs Gazette-Telegraph in 1983 covering a court-martial murder case at Peterson AFB. He speaks fairly matter-of-factly about it. Said he was lucky to be in the right place at the moment.

This is Part One of CBS’s coverage, starting with “As the World Turns” then followed by the initial bulletins. It’s broken up into nine parts, but it took about a half hour for the cameras in the CBS newsroom to warm up so that Cronkite could appear on camera. It was a fascinating look at the technology back then and how far we’ve come since then.
I remember thinking "why would I wan't to watch a funeral?". She must have made me come in because I remember watching the procession with the caisson and the riderless horse.
Years later I read "Six Seconds in Dallas" and have been a JFK assassination buff ever since.

Excerpt from The Day Kennedy Was Shot, by Jim Bishop
In newspaper offices across the United States, a small bell began to tinkle. In the wire rooms, the UPI machine was chattering about a murder trial in Minneapolis, Minnesota:
DETECTIVES WERE THERE AND THEY “ASKED HIM TO LOOK
IN THERE (THE BRIEFCASE) FOR SOMETHING.”
THE CASE WAS OPENED AND AN ENVELOPE WAS FOUND

...The little bells in the wire rooms tinkled again. This time editors—not copy boys—came running. They had seen Merriman Smith’s first flash, and it could be a mistake. Editors scanned the Associated Press machine, dreading to place credence in one wire service against the other, but while the AP was rippling through run-of-the-mill stories. . . .

I took my 9 year old son to the book depository building last year. We flew in for the Packers - Cowboys game and decided to make it educational as well.
It really was fascinating.
Outside there were some folks talking about the conspiracy and we listened to them as well. I have to admit, some of their claims seemed to make sense, especially as it relates to the direction in which some of the wounds were found, the part of his scalp that landed on the grass, etc.
I can’t imagine what a terrible day that must have been.
Later that evening they brought his body to Bethesda, and immediately locked down the entire hospital. The Kennedy family arrived and took over the whole 5th floor, and while there no doctors or nurses were permitted to leave or arrive. I finally gave birth to my daughter the next morning, but couldn't have my regular doctor with me since he wasn't allowed to come while the hospital was still on lock down. It was truly a very eerie time. I particularly remember was the dead silence surrounding the whole place.
I remember grabbing my new baby...and going down to my land lady...It was “unreal”....
Fresh out of college, I faked a fever to leave work early to go see him when they drove down Airport Blvd. I'm glad I did. I was a Young Republican, not a big jfk FAN, but I wanted to see him. They had been in FL and he was tanned and looked good ...blue eyes, big grin.
Because security was not what it is today (or would be the next day) the crowd stood along the curb and they passed in the open convertible...really close to the people.
Everything came to a halt after the assassination. I was supposed to go to a Peter, Paul, and Mary concert that night but it was cancelled.
I feel old.
About 20 years ago (just before they opened the museum) I was in Dallas visiting a customer. Had a little time early in the morning before my appointment, so I went to Dealy Plaza and looked around. The overwhelming first impression I had as I looked at the window and it’s relationship to the limousine was this: That’s exactly the location I would have picked if I were the shooter.
I was in kindergarten. And I remember. Our family was Catholic and Democrat and we loved this man. It was like a death in the family.
Thanks, dfwgator, that is interesting. I’ll also be interested to see it again after all of these years to see how my memory holds or has been distorted by reporting about it through the years.
I was in 10th grade in ‘63, and remember it all as if it was yesterday. We first learned about it in Bookkeeping class. Somebody had a transistor radio on them, and despite the fact that they were not allowed, our teacher let us listen to the broadcasts. Americans were glued to the TV those four days. Sunday, the 24th, we were getting ready to sit down to dinner. We always ate at noon. We had the TV on, and they were getting ready to move Lee Harvey Oswald. We were watching it live when shots rang out and Oswald was hit. It all happened so fast. Then of course we watched the funeral all day Monday. It’s hard to believe it all happened 45 years ago. I’m getting old!!!
We do know the truth.
Will we ever know the truth?
Of course we will, but don’t look at some of the older publications. In a YOUTUBE video, it’s now shown EXACTLY when Texas Governor John Connally is struck in the back.
1. Many witnesses said the last two shots were almost on top of each other, one reporter said that Kennedy’s head exploded with one of those two shots, BANG-BANG.
2. Gov. Connally said “the force of the bullet bent me over,” you don’t see Governor Connally bent over until AFTER the fatal head shot to President Kennedy
3. In this video, Governor Connally’s head snaps downward starting at Zapruder frame Z325 which is less than a second after Kennedy is shot in the head.
Put it all together? A shot less than a second AFTER the fatal head shot to Kennedy means there were multiple shooters. It means the Warren Commission’s findings were incorrect. It means that some of the evidence ALWAYS HELD BY THE GOVERNMENT is fraudulent. It means a lot more than you know now.

UNDERSTANDING THE KENNEDY ASSASSINATION is an introduction to the story that will reveal the truth including the name of the only person who could have pulled this off.
Was in Europe listening to Armed Forces Network. Bulletin: ‘Connally and Kennedy have been shot.’ I had no idea who they were talking about.
That’s all they said right then. Half an hour later they went to solemn music.
