“sometimes I love Newt, sometimes I want to slap him.”

I feel the same way and agree that he can get the message out. We are not going to find the perfect pro-life, anti illegal, global warming realist, person who knows how to get the job done.

Newt is the best GOP idea man since Honest Abe.

RNC chairman is the perfect job for him.

Not a bad idea. Newt is one of our best at generating policy ideas and positions, and he also is good at articulating them. Also, I believe that his personal behavior has eliminated considering him as a candidate, so this might be a good use of his best talents. However, I don’t know about his organizational and administrative capabilities, so I don’t know how effective he would be at the day-to-day job of chairman.

As long as Newt remains neutral in the almost inevitable faceoff between Palin and Jindal in 2012, I think it would be a good choice.

I know he's been extremely high on both people, calling them the brightest young stars in the party, but he might have a sentimental attachment to the Louisianan. Just a guess.

This decision belongs to the GOP voters.

What do you think?

Newt claims to have sought forgiveness for his moral dilemma. He reached out to the church (don’t remember which one), iirc.

As RNC chair he could put his great organizational and philosophical skills to work.

I’m inclined to support it, although I want a new party or a real conservative caucus within this one to take it over....seeing that it’s reeling and many of the Rino leaders have bit the dust.

Newt, if you can't get it, help us organize an offshoot of the Republican party. Come up with a name "Conservative Republicans" or something.

But we can't deal anymore with leftist GOP elites. We need somewhere else to go.

I like the idea of Newt taking over the lead in the party

I don’t think the “RNC Chairman” must be able to, on their own, personally, be able to “lay their hands on $100 million”.

I agree, but he would need it if he isn't connected to the party bigwigs. Either connections or cash would be necessary to get a hearing.

Michael Steele or Newt would be the best men for the job. Glad he's considering it.

Long overdue. If RNC existed last years, I was not aware of anything they did.

Newt is an Idea Man with program of what to do. With American Solutions initiative Newt tried to demonstrate that there is a very good number of issues that a clear majority of Americans agree on (proven by his polling). Most of these ideas are conservative ideas. It proves that when asked properly, a majority of Americans agree with conservative issues. This is the best way to pull all those who think they are democrats to our side without compromising our position.

Someplace back upthread you will read Newt denying that he agrees with the Dems about Global Warming. In any case party chairmen do not set policy.

You can sign me up when he calls Global Warming a fraud, his GW position is a total deal-breaker for me.

I forgot about that. I'm not sure that this is a total deal breaker for me, but it is a huge problem. A very huge problem.

Did he actually endorse the whole idea of man made global warming or was it just something about agreeing to be environmentally responsible?

I remember he did some debate with algore or something like that, no?

Plus, there are no two people on the planet who agree in more than about 90% of their opinions. And the 90% level of agreement is probably limited to “best friends” and “bosom buddies.” In practical terms it is impossible to find anyone with whom one agrees in all things.

No one else that I see shows Newt’s conservatism, plus his abilities to plan and execute principle-based growth.

You know what, this will be heresy on a conservative forum and from a recent sign-up here.. but there are certain issues, like the global warming hoax, where we just have to accept isn’t going to go our way and eat the $*%*! sandwich.

Once the Dems gave up on trying to ban guns, they started winning back all those traditional Rat Congressional districts lost in 94. Issues like global warming kill us in the ‘burbs.

Gingrich or Steele for RNC Chairman
Jim DeMint for Senate Minority Leader
Mike Pence or Paul Ryan for House Minority Leader

No time to waste
