The word among GOP insiders here in Georgia is that Newt Gingrich is considering throwing his name in the hat to be the next Chairman for the RNC....

Well, Mr. Younger Conservative 28 years old.
That’s the problem with your generation. You’ve got ZERO RESPECT for the wisdom of age.
Tell us, just what young gun conservative out there has the ezperience, the wisdom, and the demonstrated leadership to take of the RNC, bring everybody together, purge out the RINOs, help select winning candidates and winning platforms, target and groom younger conservatives? Hmmm?
Come on. Dazzle us. We’re waiting.
I think pedophilic rapist murderers are still out. For now.
20&33 comments before reality kicked in...wow!
I second that !!
Hell Yeah!!!
I don’t think the “RNC Chairman” must be able to, on their own, personally, be able to “lay their hands on $100 million”.
What they do need is the ability to develop a plan and a strategy to use ALL GOP resources for fund raising;
as well as plans and strategies in party-building, party organizing and lifting-up, placing and supporting GOP candidates.
In the fundraising aspect, yes, the RNC Chairman must be a constant traveler, extremely good communicator, effective salesman and accepted as a leader.
The $$$ can come from the effective and party-knowledgeable execution of those things.
I think one of the biggest lacks at the RNC in eight years is ineffective and disciplined outreach to, coordination with, co-responsibility with and co-strategy with the GOP party organizations, below the state chairmen and the state chairmen’s hand picked state party reps. From what I have seen in those state GOP parties that I have some second hand knowledge, there is a lot more party loyalty and less self-promotion down below the state party heads.
The national RNC needs to build its own program of working with the party, directly at the county level.
The one and only time that was different was when Ken Mehlman built a huge volunteer program for Bush in 2004, which even here in Blue-State NJ had very active volunteer HQs in every county. Nationwide it had almost a million.5 volunteers by election day; working door-to-door and phone-line get out the vote efforts.
Exit polls asking “undecideds” - after they voted on Tuesday - had numbers like 3X% saying they had been contacted by the Obama campaign and 1X% saying the McCain campaign contacted them. Some say it would not have mattered (because of other factors), but the point is that the effective ground operation in 2004 was led by the RNC, for the Bush campaign. Since 2006, in my book, the HQ of the RNC has been totally missing from the battle.
The chairman of the RNC will not be the best RNC chairman, if their strongest suite is but one segment of what the chairman’s office must do. Instead, their strongest suit must be very secure conservative values inside excellent leadership skills, attached to a vision of how to move forward. That type of leader can attract the Newts, the Ken Mehlman’s, the Haley Barbours and others to his/her ranks at the RNC, to do the things that each of them can do best - while the leader leads them.
Not sure we should even REBUILD the Republican Party as it stands now. Might be better to build from ground up with something new... a caller suggested this on RUSH today and I agreed wholeheartedly!!!
Take the entire PARTY to the DUMP and start over!!!!!!NEW NAME... NEW PARTY!!
I am for this.
I like the idea of Gingrich helping to shape what the GOP stands for, as well as to plot the comeback, but I think the GOP needs some new faces out in public enunciating it. There’s definitely a role for Gov. Palin in that. I also like the idea of Michael Steele, Rep. Bachmann, Rep. Thaddeus McCotter, and Gov. Jindal.
#1a on the list has to be lowering government spending.
#1b “..............................taxes
Then jobs, improving K-12 education, and the environment.
Hell, we’re all for more, better paying jobs. The question is which party offers the best approach for those jobs to be created.
If your only interest is having an "R" in office and the agenda doesn't matter...If you think Republicans have to adopt Democrat positions on issues like global warming, then Newt is one of your guys.
he’s been saying for some time that the party needs to speak up on English only , closing the border , homo marriage etc
these all all good with most Americans but of course the RINO’s do not like to talk about them as they think they will lose a homo vote or insult illegals who should not be voting
he will call to task the left and I hope he goes after all of obama’s illegal money first
ban the prepaid credit cards
find out who donated
how much from overseas
how much did Soros and Buffet give in prepaid cards
he then bans it all so we play on a level playing field next time
Gingrich, Jindal, Palin, Kasich
I would like to see michael steele too
Haley gave a face and personality to the RNC. He was smart and steely under all that southern charm.
After Haley, the powers-that-be decided to pick money-men (i.e. good fund-raisers and boiler-operators) to be chair.....grim-looking men with little personality or the ability to connect with the Republican masses.......or to pick President Bush's choices (disasterville).
I remember Haley being on the tube all the time, especially Sunday mornings where he articulated the GOP cause in his appealing drawl.
To put you out of your misery, the current Republican National Committee chairman is the well-known and wildly-popular Mike (Who?) Duncan. Duncan succeeded that other most exciting and memorable klutz, Sen. Mel Martinez.....gawd!
GO NEWT!
Leni
Newt, please do so. The fact that the liberals absolutely despise you is all the proof I need that you’re the right man for the job.
We need another Contract with America!
Yes! Newt for RNC Chair!
How come I didn’t think of this, I feel so stupid!
Please, Newt. Clean out the RINOs.
I’m next in line.
