Prayer request for wife and son

Any prayer that can be raised will be appreciated for my wife, Anne and newly coming son, Joseph.

Joey will be born tomorrow morning (Wednesday 10/29/08) via cesarean section.

Please pray that:
1.) Joey's diagnosed complications of fluid build-up inside his brain cavity and sacral agenesis are healed by the great physician - and no lasting effects are realized - for the praise and glory of His Name, and in demostration to those medical 'professionals' that subtly encouraged us to terminate.
2.) Courage and faith for my wife and myself leading up to and during this procedure.
3.) That my wife have complete and speedy body and hormonal healing.
4.) A grateful acceptance of the Lord's blessing to us regardless of Joey's condition.
5.) Wisdom for our doctors and nurses.
6.) Strength and wisdom to raise Joseph up as a Godly man.

Joey was diagnosed at 18 weeks with sacral agenesis. It was thought that the lower 5 vertebrae of his spine were missing, effecting his urinary, bowel and possibly mobility control. It has subsequently been noticed on sonogram scans that he MAY possess some sacral vertebra...but how many is still TBD after birth via x-ray.

Joey also has a blocked drainageway in his skull that prevents the fluid from draining and thereby slightly pressurizing the brain all throughout later development. He will need a shunt installed as soon as he is able to bear the surgery so that the fluid can drain into his stomach.

Anne has been in the hospital for the past 6 weeks due to a vasa praevia condition with the umbilical cord centered over the cervix, necessitating Joey's early delivery via surgery before he drops, possibly cutting off his own blood flow.

Thank you all for the prayers, now and in the future. I will check in on the thread throughout the day, but as of tomorrow morning my attention will be with my family. Will check back afterward later to give updates.

Update:

Hi Family and Friends,
Our son, Joey was born this morning about 9:30 am. He was 6 lbs, 1 oz and one month pre-mature due to a vesa previa condition. He awaits a shunt to drain fluid from his little head, a possible operation tomorrow about 8am to fix a esophagus problem (it may not be connected to his stomach but instead connected to his treachea) and a bowel that isn’t venting to the outside (no anus) and sacral agenesis.

Please keep Joey in prayer…but we DID get to hold him late last night!

Aw. What a beautiful baby! Congratulations! You know how I feel about Drs and their “prognosis”..They don’t have the ability to see into the future...but God does!

Have you considered doing a carepage? It’s a wonderful way to keep a journal and also a nice way to keep your family and friends updated daily as to what’s going on...

We also have caringbridge. Depends on the hospital but anyone can go to either site and create one.

There is no way I can no your level of trust in God or your fear of the outcome for Joey. But I will share this with you and your family. Back in the sixties when I was born I had a birth defect that was rarely heard of and the doctors missed it for a while. My parents were told that surgery had to be done at once and then I would have a high chance of being disabled for life. Well people prayed and God moved. The surgery went as planned and I am now 44 and have be able to have a normal life. No signs of the problem except a big knot on top of my head. My hair covers it up.

I didn’t want to make this post about me I just wanted to share again that God is a BIG GOD! He took care of me and he can take care of Joey. I will continue to pray. Please keep me undated on Joey’s condition.
