From Seattle to San Diego, from Burlington, Vermont to New York City, from New Orleans to Texas and Midwest towns like Cleveland, I am hearing hushed admissions of a terrible sin: Father, Im not going to vote for Obama.
Then I look at the polls. Nationally and in battleground States, Senator Obama is thrashing Senator McCain.
So what gives?
Pollsters would tell me its all very simple. Anecdotal evidence, like my experience on the road, isnt really evidence at all. It is not trustworthy because it is not scientific. The divergence between what people are telling me and the polling data must be that I run in closed circles. People of like minds talk to me; the others dont.
Very logical unless unless people dont want their neighbors (or pollsters) to know they arent voting for Obama.
I am referring to something else the fear of talking to pollsters, or to your neighbor, or to anyone else about not wanting to vote for Barack Obama because of what he stands for.
Do you have doubts? How would you like to get up in front of a crowded theater in a mixed neighborhood and say you are going to vote for McCain? What respectable person wants to risk being considered a racist or a war monger or a fan of President Bush or an enemy of change? Many good people would like to see a black man as our president, or even a Democrat to be our president, but dont want Barack Obama.

Why would a Catholic apologize for not voting for a baby killer?

Obama Says A Baby Is A Punishment
Obama: If they make a mistake, I dont want them punished with a baby.
You know what? I totally understand your son. When I watched Barry mock Joe the other day, I was so mad I could have spit tacks. The next plitical argument I get in with a family member might be last one because I’ll be done with them.
I think there is something to this. I have noticed the same thing here in Cuyahoga, Medina, Lorain and Summit counties, which is the little geographical area that I mostly occupy.
There are very, very few signs as compared to the last election. I saw zillions then. I also saw more Bush than Kerry.
A friend of mine said she was talking to a radiography tech the other day and the lady said she talks to lots of people and there is a “silent” majority out there.
The Democrats and their agents have become such thugs that I would not admit voting for McCain if I lived in a liberal part of the country. Might be dangerous.
Please God, let it be November 5th and let John McCain have pulled off the “greatest upset since Truman defeated Dewey... that nobody saw it coming.”
Please let me feel the electric seething resentment of my African American neighbors searching my face to see if I voted against them as we ride the elevator until I offer up, “I can’t believe the Republicans did it to us again...”
Then as they relax and smile and call me brother as they leave the elevator...I can say, “Try and have a nice day!” and smile to myself knowing that common sense prevailed and yes we saved their republic for them too, only they won’t realize it for years to come if at all.
Well, I wouldn’t have gone that far....
Think of it this way, the same spirit of deceit that has made your sister-in-law think she is gay is the one that deceives many about much...
The spirit of iniquity who has a name my friend, as well as a very large army of helpers. He’s been a busy beaver of late and I think he’s going to get busier still.
“His thugs” are the media. The media has neutered many people. That’s why you don’t see a lot of McCain/Palin signs. People are afraid of what might happen to them. And unfortunately they have reason to be afraid. Their cars will be keyed or maybe even a molotov cocktail thrown through a window. And the cops won’t do a damn thing. ‘Cause they’ve been neutered, too.
When it’s someone I don’t know, I always say I haven’t decided yet.
I don’t want any of these idiots getting in my face.
I wonder if all the other “undecideds” are undecided for that reason.
Antedotal evidence isn’t scientific, but it sure tells you a lot. I’ve mentioned it before here and I’ll say it again: I’ve got a few great ones. My extended family is in smalltown MO, specifically Lebanon and suburb of Springfield. We’re talkin yellow dog Democrats, it’s in their blood. Went up to the Lake of the Ozarks this last August to go fishin at their lake cabin. Asked my cuzins if they were gonna vote for Obama. I really didn’t want to know, but what they said coulda knocked me over with a feather. My cuzin’s husband said, “hell no, I’m not votin for that bastard”. I said ok Ron, you’re stayin home, huh? He said, “oh no, we’re votin for McCain” I said to my cuzin, but your mom and dad are probably votin for Obama, right? Hell no, there votin for McCain. I though I was gonna faint. I said to both my cuzins there, who are both real estate agents, what do the people in your office say? Are’nt they mostly democrats. Yes indeed they were and always were. But they too, except for 1 person out of about 20 said they were all votin for McCain. They’re workin on the other one :)
so no the catholic church is taking a pro abortion stand?
The brownshirts at work complained to the boss of politics being discussed at work. Then they find the boss is a huge McCain supporter. HA...he signs the checks. opppsss
With Caller ID there is no way these polls are accurate and I said that when McCain was in the supposed lead.
Pray for W, McCuda and Our Troops
This just underscores the need for the 2nd Amendment. Here in gun-friendly Texas, I can say who I’m voting for without fear. Its sad that so much of our country have lost their basic liberties.
I call undecideds for McCain...they whisper in the phone they’re voting for McCain and then slam the receiver down.
The priest is onto something.
The type of catholic who is already a right-leaning, pro-life practicing catholic is NOT going to feel the need to “confess” in a “hushed” voice that they are not voting for Obama.
The only catholics who would approach a priest in this manner would be those social justice types who normally vote democrat.
They can’t bring themselves to vote Obama so they feel guilty.
Hence the hushed voices.
Lack of patriotism and knowledge of History, our American Constitution, and the American way of life leaves us vulnerable to being cowed by anti-Americans whose mere political ploy is a hope for a life of debauchery (getting high, getting laid, and having some ‘enemy of the state’ enslaved to do all of the hard work).
Wearing our Faith on our sleeves and expressing love for our country as well as displaying, when challenged, a thorough knowledge of History and our way of living American would have swept out these ridiculous anti-American and anti-God politics long before they'd have gained any sway of power and influence.
Most of those polled are landline-phone users at home during the day. Hardly a representative sample of America, 2008!
Barack Obama is flooding the airwaves here with ads. Cable TV, network TV, radio, his ads are all over the place. In Massachusetts!!!
As careful and cunning a strategist as Hussein is, why is he wasting money advertising in the liberal enclave appropriately called the "Commonwealth"?
This is amazing. I went to the dump today, and last weekend, I drove across half the state to attend the Historic Deerfield Antiques Show. I saw dozens of McCain-Palin signs and bumper stickers, and only a handful of signs for "The One." Really weird.
