Everybody on the right is itching for McCain to destroy Obama and the Democrat Congress on this Fannie and Freddie scandal. There is the explosive video seen more than 1 million times on YouTube showing exactly how the Democrats are solely responsible for this mess. Here is a damning video showing Democrats from a couple years ago saying that everything was fine and dandy with Fannie and Freddie while Republicans and regulators pleaded for reform and oversight. Here is Bill O'Reilly from last night absolutely losing his mind yelling at Barney Frank for trying to cover this up.
Even Britt Hume and Charles Krauthammer after the debate last night were baffled at why McCain has not gone after such an easy target.
It is a grenade sitting in the middle of the Democrat Party waiting for McCain to pull the pin. Ace thinks McCain will pull that pin, just not yet. I think he is dead on the money.
Here is the strategy . . .

I think McCain will let loose at the right time.
Might as well wait until the enemy is close before pulling that pin...but it’s getting touchy.
The train has left the station. McCain missed it. He had plenty of opportunity to talk about it during the first debate but chose to concentrate on $18 billion of earmarks. McCain voted for the Senate bailout/rescue bill that is larded with pork, i.e., earmarks. ‘Nuff said.
Attacking the Democrats was the right thing to do -- but McCain held back too long.
Public perception will not be what we would like -- and it also works against the "reach across the aisle" concept that McCain and Palin like to promote.
He does't want to get blamed if it doesn't pass.
I'll give John McCain's Navy training credit for teaching him all about the right time to drop a bomb.
Maybe not, there are still two debates left to hammer that coffin shut with.
Frank has been on the banking committee for maybe 20 years. He is now the Chairman. He didn’t know things were not right? BOR should be the least of his worries! Where is the accountability?
Sarah Palin set it up the bomb perfectly last night. The main issues in this race are Drilling and Corruption.
Pray for W, Palin/McCain and Our Troops
Exactly. He should lay it out at the next debate. And then proceed to hammer it with ads that link Palin’s debate points, the legislation he pushed (and even the Bush warnings) and the responses of Frank and Dodd.
One can only hope that McCain is merely awaiting the ‘solution’ to the crisis before using the political weapon available at hand.
I wanted so much to see Sarah tear into Obama on Fannie Mae/Freddie but it appears that she was not given the green light.
They must be holding that back for McCain to use himself. It will be a shock to most Americans I believe as we know the media isn’t going to say one word about Obama on this.
There will be less viewership and fewer voters. Early voting has already started in many states, including Ohio. You only get one chance to make a good first impression. McCain blew it.
I hope you are right - that does make sense because The only part of last night's debate that I was VERY disappointed with Palin about was that she, like McCain, kept referring to Wall Street as the villian in the Fannie Mae debacle.
Until your point about getting the House bill passed,I've been very suspicious as to just why in the hell McCain will not blame the democrats that refused time and time again to allow regulatory oversight of Fannie/Freddie. It flat out hasn't made sense for him to continue letting them get away with it. Americans are PISSED and this is a red meat & winning issue for him, but he hasn't gone for the easy touchdown.... Why? If it isn't because of the 'rescue' vote, what can it be?
I was so hoping to se Saracuda go after the dems and I was devestatingly disappointed that she didn't. She had the world stage and an unfiltered opportunity that was missed. I want these crooked dems to get blamed BECAUSE NONE OF THIS WOULD HAVE HAPPENED WERE IT NOT FOR THEM! If McCain continues to give them a pass after this vote and doesn't speak up soon, I'll conclude that some kind of blackmail is involved.... seriously!
Just watched the OReily Utube video. AWESOME!!!
McCain is saving this because it is damning.
If McCain and Bush had acted in concert, they could have locked the election by having McCain oppose the pork and earmark laden “Bailout” legislation. Bush could then declare a national emergency, and hose the world with dollars to temporarily avert U.S. government insolvency. Game, set, match: McCain earns his Maverick stripes, distances himself from Bush, and the financial outcome is the same or better than the legislation.
I paint this scenario assuming that the Republicans really want to win. I can’t really make heads or tails of current events. Something big has both the Executive and Legislative branches scared big time. Something so big that they probably can’t even voice it lest they precipitate it. Like U.S. bankruptcy.
I’ve been planning on this happening for about the last ten years. Unfortunately it may be happening a little too early for my taste. Perhaps the smart move at this point is the throw the election to the Dems.
Biden: What Happen?
0bama: Someone set us up the bomb!
(main screen turn on)
McCain: Hello, Gentlemen!
Keep your powder dry. There is still over a month to go - an eternity in this age of 24 hour news cycles.
If McCain hits him with this stuff now, it will be forgotten by November.
