I think we can follow the timeline by looking at Stanley Dunham. This one would be when obama's mother was around 14? IIRC she was born in 1942.

And here he is, some 4 years later, at a welcome. That makes it around 1960.

A few years older. Obama around 2yo. That's 1963.

And now he's aged some more. Stanley Ann promised him to be in Hawaii for Christmas. That's 1971. ? (MAYA'S DATE ON HER HAWAII BIRTHDAY?)

He met them at the airport...

That picture of Stanley Dunham with Obama, sure does look just like the guy in the picture so I concede my time line doesn’t fit. But there is still something wrong with the time line with the pictures of Stanley, Ann, Maya, Barack. If Barack Jr. supposedly was sent back to Hawaii in 1971 and Maya was born in Sept 1971 she would have been a tiny baby. If she was born in Aug 1970 she would be about 1 1/2 yrs old. That little girl in that picture is between 2-3 yrs old. I have a great-grandaughter who is 3 and that girl looks about the size of her.

Looking at the pictures you posted I would have to agree with you that the “Stanley” in the “grad” picture is too young for 1971. But maybe we are wrong and he isn’t Stanley. However just as I was falling asleep last night I had a thought about something else that really caught my attention in that picture. The person right behind Sr. is flashing the “peace” sign. Was there any reason someone would do this in 1961? They would definitely do it in 1971.

Another thing I thought of about Ann and why she isn’t in the picture is that she could be the one who is taking the picture.

Not necessarily. Ann and Maya didn't return to Indonesia until at least 3 yrs after that Christmas. She moved into her own apartment and studied for her MA degree at UH, according to "Dreams," and the Time article. That picture could have been taken anytime between 1971 and 1974-75. I'd also place the "welcome" picture in 1959, the year Obama, Sr. arrived from Kenya, and the year Stanley moved to Hawaii.

The airport picture could have been taken in '73. Obama says he, Maya, Madelyn and Ann took a trip to the mainland "during the summer after my father's visit to Hawaii, before my eleventh birthday," which should have been '72, but then he says they watched the Watergate hearings at night during the trip, and those were in the summer of '73. The precise chronology, as always with Obama, is up for grabs. Stanley didn't go with them, but probably saw them off at the airport.

I'd also place the "Welcome" picture in 1959, the year Obama Sr. arrived from Kenya and the year Stanley moved to Hawaii, ahead of Madelyn and Ann.

Too bad that picture is not clear. Now I'm wondering if that man in the white shoes squatting in the front is Frank Davis.
