Too bad that picture is not clear. Now I'm wondering if that man in the white shoes squatting in the front is Frank Davis.

Much too young. Davis was born in 1905.

By the way, it wouldn't surprise me if Davis knew Obama, Sr. Davis considered himself what we might call a "swinger," and liked to hang out with college kids, drinking and listening to jazz (same as the UH crowd that Obama, Sr. and Ann Dunham were said to belong to). I picked up a cheap copy of Davis' bio (definitely not a best-seller), and he writes (contrary to Obama's description of racism in Hawaii):

"Afro-American brothers made out with all kinds of dolls. One pure black African student from Ghana wreaked havoc among co-eds at the university, and the wife of a prominent white local politician considered shucking her husband for him; another student from Kenya split, leaving two pregnant blondes."

Davis, who was married to a white woman from a prominent Chicago family and had five kids with her after moving to Hawaii, also wrote some "soft porn" novels under an assumed name, according to the editor of his bio, John Tidwell, but I'm not so sure they were all that "soft."  He was quite a character -- but definitely not one I'd want to expose my grandson to.
