Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee enjoys the first victory on Super Tuesday for the Republicans as he takes all 18 delegates in the state of West Virginia, winning 52% of the vote, although rumors abound regarding the McCain campaign's possible instruction to their delegates to switch to his side.
Mitt Romney finished second with 47% of the vote, followed by McCain at 1%.
Rumors are circulating that the McCain campaign instructed their delegates to defect over to Mike Huckabee's side as to avoid a Romney victory. Nationally, McCain is significantly ahead of Huckabee and can afford giving the state's 18 delegates to Huckabee, but certainly not to Romney, who was originally in the lead when polling began in West Virginia by a wide margin and trails McCain nationally by only 17 delegates.

Huck is no conservative either and now he’s proven himself a great big liar, too.
If you believe those of us against McCain are "radical" then you have absolutely no credibility in regards to the key tenets of conservatism.
If McCain goes on to the nomination you will see how many so-called "radicals" we are when we leave the Presidential selection empty.
The most conservative candidates are gone. So now you are going to bash the most conservative of those who are left.
Must be a lib lover or conservative hater, eh?
I tried to get in to vote the second round but this was hung on the locked doors.
It ain’t negative if it’s true. What’s worse Romney says “Huck raised taxes” which is true, or Huck saying (by proxy) “Fred Thompson isn’t pro-life”?
Negative my a$$.
Paul got 3 delegates out of the deal.
I'm actually glad Huckster won. This slows McCain's momentum and it pushes Romney further out of the race. That means Paul will win over the long haul. As the race goes on, Huckabee can't compete with Paul's fundraising and grassroots support.
Alot of talk is that he’ll be the VP under McCain.
Oh yeah..like the “key tenets” of say....lower spending, anti-abortion,....fighting terrorism...supporting our troups.....serving our country.......oh yeah...that’s right.......THAT’s MCains voting record!
Sitting out is a vote for Hillary or Obama..now go look in the mirror at a Democrat.
“Fortunately...as will be shown by today’s vote...more rational minds will prevail.....and that will give you time to wipe the frothing spit off your angry face and tidy up before the Mccain Inaugural Ball.”
We’ll see.........
You make an excellent argument. It will be my pleasure to vote for a Dem to stop McCain.
I think this will cost McCain cause everyone can see what a skank he is.
Your reply is an outrage. You're insinuating that we all should be in this just for themselves and that the end justifies the means. Huck has just done irreparable harm to his party and perhaps his country and you think it's ok? Is there no honor left anywhere? We expect this kind of thing from RATS but not Republicans.
“That means Paul will win over the long haul.”
Laughable.
Both men keep their insults and vile remarks to slamming Republicans, their own, and not our enemies in the UnAmerican Democrat Party and the MSM.
McCain is in no way shape or form anything close to the brilliant Atwater.
Spare me the holier than thou histrionics.
Politics isn’t tiddlywinks.
Deals get made, elbows get thrown, feelings get bruised.
The sooner conservatives grow up and accept this, the better.
I’m still torn...the vision of seeing Bush and Laura having to turn back over the keys to the whitehouse to those two creatures continues to keep me voting for McCain holding onto hope by a thread, but by the end of today I may well have to learn to deal with that nightmare!
Of course it aint over yet...I’d definitely vote Romney, and DID so today.
“Huck has just done irreparable harm to his party and perhaps his country and you think it’s ok? Is there no honor left anywhere? We expect this kind of thing from RATS but not Republicans.”
Huck and McVain are libs. They will sell their souls to the devil himself for power.
Partisan..
Do you really believe what you’re saying here..or trying to spin it to make it sound all nasty and evil here..
Lets go over this one more time..since you clearly failed recent US History.
Bush won Florida—won in the 1st and 2nd recounts done..was certified the winner.
All the while..Sore/Loserman began whining about things like chads and military ballots that didnt have a return address on them...Gore whines more..saying there should be a new election..or that he should be declared the winner..just because...
Gore whines to the Florida Supreme Court..to out of wholecloth to create new arbitary, Election standards to favor him..the Florida Supremes decide to give AlGore what he wanted.
Bush then exercised his LEGAL right to ask the Supreme Court to correct the clearly erronous decision of the Florida Supremes..which..by a 7-2 vote they did...
Now..getting back to what occured in WV..Basically..you’re taking the AlGore route now..
Should Romney just be “given” the WV delegates now just “because”...Should their be a “new election”?
The rules of the WV convention were VERY clear.. Candidate MUST get a result of 50.1 of the delegates in order to win. ALL of the candidate failed to do so on the first ballot... A second ballot was taken..people were free to vote as they wished..and Romney again came up short..and Huckabee got the needed 50.1 threshold.
Where is the subterfuge? Where is the quid pro quo? Answer..ITS NOT THERE.. so..again...QUIT WHINING.. go try to win some states...
Bull.
Huckabee got traction with no money and no national reputation.
Clearly Romney's money didn't stop him. I'm not a Romney supporter. the only value in Romney winning is that McCain and Huckabee won't....that's a very cold comfort. But it's all we have left.
but if you are gonna make a claim like that, it needs to line up with reality and the reality is that if Huckabee can stay in the race this long as a credible candidate with his many flaws, then a "real conservative" with a well run campaign could have done so too (or instead) and Romney's money is irrelevant to that.
