McCain cuts deal with delegates to hand WV victory to Huckabee

Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee enjoys the first victory on Super Tuesday for the Republicans as he takes all 18 delegates in the state of West Virginia, winning 52% of the vote, although rumors abound regarding the McCain campaign's possible instruction to their delegates to switch to his side.

Mitt Romney finished second with 47% of the vote, followed by McCain at 1%.

Rumors are circulating that the McCain campaign instructed their delegates to defect over to Mike Huckabee's side as to avoid a Romney victory. Nationally, McCain is significantly ahead of Huckabee and can afford giving the state's 18 delegates to Huckabee, but certainly not to Romney, who was originally in the lead when polling began in West Virginia by a wide margin and trails McCain nationally by only 17 delegates.

From your posts it's pretty obvious why the GOP left you....

Your sad and foolish embrace of the McCain/Huckster alliance gives us the likely choice of the unhinged, very unconservative McCain or the hag.

Congrats on your depth of reasoning.

WTH? It’s not even 5 PM yet in WV. How could anyone know yet that the Huckster has taken all of the delegates?

Well, whether you support him or not, it was clever. We don’t want an idiot as president. Good strategery.

You must have really been impressed with the Clintons and Carville then.

Slimes??/

Excuse me??

Tell me..what’s slime here..

Supporting a candidate who as late as 2005 was pro choice, pro gay marriage, passed government run health care, allowed sanctuary cities, and stated he was “an independent during the time of Reagan/Bush”..now trying to pass himself off as a movement conservative??

Or someone who has been pro life 100% of the time, supports the most progressive national tax reform proposal (the FairTax), has the most detailed illegal immigration proposal thats been endorsed by the head of the Minutemen organization, ..etc...

My vote for Huckabee is a vote for Huckabee. But I’ll take McCain over Romney any day.

So tell me just how is life in the 'gutter'?

While legal, this backroom deal between McCain and Huckabee is disgusting as millions of voters are still headed to the polls today.

McCain already has the MSM cheering his nomination to run against Clinton or Obama.

It wouldn’t bother me so much if this was the convention and American’s had already voted.

It’s frustating to be a conservative today with no candidates to vote for.

You won’t be laughing in November, or for the four years afterwards.

I know that. It seems you are the one still clinging to false hope.

Conservatism is already screwed, dead and buried. All that's at stake among five fools who are still in the hunt is who gets sworn in to piss on the headstone.

P.S.: Nobody cheated, but Willard sure got played.

Look....Romney is the only one left that appeals to conservatives...it’s obvious that McCain does not mean a thing when he says he wants to unite the party..he’s burning lots of bridges by pulling this. Is it legal? Of course, but it also brings home the point that McCain doesn’t care what conservatives like despite the fact that he is insisting that he is one.

SOrry...but if he hadn’t pulled this, I would at least have felt like conservatives might have some leverage at the convention..but this proves that he doesn’t need us, our money or our vote.

A miracle in California just might happen.

I and a few of the boys went out on a night safari hunt in California. We did some RINO hunting. Initially they were hard to find because during the election season they like to hide behind roaring elephants.

However, we spooked them out by saying: “We love America. No Amnesty for law breakers.” This got the RINO’s so mad they charged us. We fired at point blank range and left dead RINO’s strewn all across the Sacramento and San Joaquin valleys. The results today might surprise you.

Go Romney Go!

To see this crap endorsed by supposed "conservatives" is appalling. No decency, no better than damn democrats.

I’m shocked to see that hardcore politics is being played out in West Virginia.

Next thing you know they'll start wearing shoes.

New sources, including an advisor to Gov. Mike Huckabee, have told the Arkansas Times that Huckabee and a senior member of his staff exerted behind-the-scenes influence to bring about the parole of rapist Wayne Dumond, who Missouri authorities say raped and killed a woman there shortly after his parole.
The Judicial Watch has Governor Huckabee on their 10 most corrupt politicians!

And so speaking of Hillary.....

....let’s revisit for a moment the spectre of her possible election.

First, the woman DID vote FOR the war in Iraq no mind her speaking out of both sides of her mouth now that the Moonbat wing of her party should vote for her.

Hill knows that her previous administration played fiddle a little too long whilst Rome burned and I’m not convinced the Hill will just up and pull the troops. I think she’d make a better CIC then...well than Obama, for one. I’m not convinced McCain would be better than her because if no one’s mentioned it yet, this man has a horrific temper. He scares people, I’m serious. Yes, the Hill has a temper but McCain makes her look like a piker.

So...supreme court nominees? Well who’s going to be up to retire? Stevens? Ginsberg? Well these two are so liberal already that even if Hill should appoint liberals to replace, how is this worse? Conservative issues are squeaking through now. The Court might not get any better but I’d argue it won’t get worse. Oh, and don’t forget that the fine, even-tempered McCain said he thought Alito wore his conservatism on his sleeve. What the hell does that mean?

Social issues? What...I’ve not seen any amazing passion by McCain on the issue of abortion. Let’s not forget the man voted AGAINST tax cuts ..”for the rich”. He’s got Schwarz...Crist and a bunch of other libs in the tank for him and he’ll owe them. Any diff between the Hill and McCain on these matters is almost null.

Finally, IF Hill beats McCain, the pubbies in congress will have gotten a message. For I think the concept of conservatives across the fruited plains sitting this election out or voting for Micky Mouse will be widely known by the time McCain loses. thus the senators and reps will know the message. Conservatives in this country might not be a majority (although I think they are, far more than the lib media likes to present), we are a damn formidable group and on occasions, like the non-herding cats we are, we get it into our heads that we’ve had enough. A President Hillary would have to plow through that chastised Republican congress.

If conservatives swallow one more time and vote for this totally unpalatable John McCain, he of the fine even temper, this country will go liberal and will never go back.
John McCain and his so-called Republican enablers, helped by the libs who would rather have had the Hill but can live with McCain, will be emboldened as never before.

It’s my argument and I’m sticking to it.

They have a state convention: a speech by the candidate or his designee followed by a succession of votes until someone gets 50.1%.
