It is sooooo easy to get under the skin of the Democrats. All you have to do is tweak them with the word "Democrat" used as an adjective as in "Democrat Party." President Bush did this last night during his SOTU when referring to the new "DEMOCRAT majority" and today you would have thought he committed the crime of the century. Democrats absolutely can't stand being called Democrats which is precisely the reason why we will continue to call them Democrats. It is FUn to see them throw a conniption fit over a mere word. It's like we can control their nerve endings. You want to see a Democrat suddenly go berserk? Then just say "Democrat." HA! HA! HA! HA! Meanwhile, these same Democrats think it is perfectly okay to call Republicans "Rethugs," "Nazis," or a lot of other pejoratives. There were several DUmmie and KOmmie threads where the Democrats went out of control over this word starting with this THREAD titled, "THAT DAMN BASTARD! 'DEMOCRAT MAJORITY!'" So let us now watch the DUmmies and KOmmies work themselves into a lather over "Democrat" in Bolshevik Red while the commentary of your humble correspondent, enjoying the spectacle of easily tweaked Democrats, is in the [brackets]:

I was so pissed when John "Boner" used "Democrat party" in introducing Nancy Pelosi. He knew what he was saying and it was for the benefit of his Rethug buddies.

It's an insult, it started long ago during the '50s with Senator Joe McCarthy... it's a derogatory term for our Democratic Party.

"Democrat" as an adjective sounds like an epithet, and makes people recoil. It has the hard sound of "shit" and similar aggressive terms of anger and condemnation. It is no accident that the whole of the Republican world uses it. Even some newspeople use it as well, a dead giveaway as to where they're coming from.

It's the Democrats' fault. Seriously, they never ever call bullshit on this. They always allow them to get away with it--whether it is on TV talkshows or on C-SPAN, never once have I seen any Democrat correct a right wing thug on this.

The latter. She is so non-political that I can't even get her to talk about Senor Hugo one way or the other. No problem. I get more than my fill of politics here. I have no need to be discussing it on the outside. That includes everybody else. Friends of mine who go to the DUmmie FUnnies are surprised that I am into politics since it is a subject that I never discuss with them.

One of the truly weird customs in Dummieland is their reporting encounters with "freepers" and "fundies" and their disruption of family gatherings in order to intimidate people who might not share their political delusions.
They must have jobs, if they have jobs, where their opinions cannot affect how customers or clients or patients respond to being told they are idiots.
I have friends in Venezuela. I used to post on FR what I heard from them as far back as two years ago but it has become really insane down there.

You should agree with them on this point. "Liberal" is rooted in the word "liberty", and most "progressive" issues have nothing to do with liberty.
Speech codes (you can't say what you want). Gun control (you can't own a gun). Taxation (you can't keep what you make). Single-payer health care (you can't choose your own health care). Social Security (you can't use your own money to provide for your own retirement). Public education (you can't use your own money to provide for your child's education).
Nothing approaching "liberty" in any of that.
So was I, many, many years ago...and by a democrat!

Hmmmm, Republic Party... Has a nice ring. I'm strangely comfortable with it (sans RINOs).
In my experience, people who call themselves "liberals" can be reasoned with, while the "progressives" are Bolshevist lunatics.
