Interesting calculator. It's about a wash for me.

Forget Fair Tax. It's useless until they enact Sane Spend.

I'm single and this calculator reduced my taxes by a considerable amount. This doesn't make sense. It gives me a net overall tax rate of 10.79%.

Try buying a car, or a home, or a new appliance as a retired person on a fixed income under the FairTax. Or how about the special costly purchase by the poor? It is the immediate hit that will hurt. And think the price of the product will come down because of the savings the manufacture will experience. BS. Business will just keep the price the same, and there is no incentive to reduce anything. Greed will rule.

Umm-- It's about what we pay in taxes right now. That's with SE tax.

I tried the calculator and it says:

"taxable income left to spend 0."

In other words I get nothing while I have to pay like $180 to the government.

Seems this type of tax is not amiable to to low income taxpayers.

I support a sales tax over an income tax for reasons other than my bottom line straight-up dollar comparison. However, I would never agree to the government using sales taxes UNTIL after they had repealed the 16th amendment.

I know politicians, and if they can get BOTH a sales tax AND an income tax they will......even if they say, “Trust us, we’d ‘never’ do that...”

Is there a calculator that show me how much more unfairly a ROTH IRA holder is being treated compared to a regular IRA holder?
